I’m in the middle of a bit of an unusual project at the minute, and will be working on that for an hour or so tonight while I watch the show.
I’ve been gaming with the same group of friends for 25 years, we all played 40k together in the early years, but since then we have tried role playing games, new miniature games and board games too. As life went on, families, work and so on has made it hard to get time to play games, we all live in different parts of the country now, but we all still get together once a year to play a big game of 40K.
My friend Simon has played imperial guard all that time, his Tallern army has models in it he first bought in 1992, and he really wanted a new centerpiece for this years game, and fancied the Macharius tanks from foregworld. But, £100 for a tank n a game you play once a year is a bit much for his gaming budget, so found a 1/35 scale model by Meng of a King Tiger going cheap for £20, its about the same size as the forgeworld model, and have been painting it up for him so he has his counts as Macharius model.
I’ve enjoyed doing this, normally painting a scale model means being really accurate with colours and details, but here, I could just paint it in desert yellow and focus on making it look war weary and weathered. Still have the tracks to put together, and then to add final dirt and things, which is hopefully what I can do tonight.
