Mantic’s Ronnie Fights A KoW Battle Of The Beards
February 3, 2014 by brennon
Mantic Games' Ronnie Renton took on Pathfinder Chris in a Kings of War game over the weekend where both Dwarfs and Abyssal Dwarfs took to the field in a Battle of the Beards. The loser had to loose his glorious chin warmer!
The battle lines were drawn and two rather mighty armies took to the field. You can see the breakdown after the game just above this story and if you look HERE you will see Pathfinder Chris' Youtube channel where he gives a summary of a few of the game turns too.
Two burly Dwarf armies arriving on the table is a feat to be marveled and it looks like these chaps had a lot of fun with these fantasy armies.
Did you play some Kings of War over the weekend?

You know what is nice to see?
The guy who owns the company playing -and more importantly enjoying- the game.
Mantic today remind me very much of GW in the 2nd edition 40K/4th (I think) Fantasy era. Lots of energy, lots of ideas, lots of enthusiasm and some truly great games.
I’m not a big fan of Kings of War, but I do love deadzone and dreadball is a fun diversion too.
I hope warpath can follow the trend.
Beards. Very dangerous over short distances 🙂
Good to see that someone genuinely loves his job.
I’ll buy every game you produce if you sow me a beard so I can join you all.
I had the misfortune to take my undead up againt an all Brok-rider dwarf army – that where a nasty surprise … Guess an all Werewolf army in the answer … but boring and need a Werewolf king or something …
It might not be the best beard, but better than the new Games Workshop dwarves.
I have to disagree. Their character models are good, but the Dwarfs themselves aren’t my favourite. I have a selection of them for Dwarf King’s Hold and the like, and while I approve of the mass of figures you can get – I don’t like the sculpts. I much prefer the Games Workshop/Avatars of War style Dwarfs I’m afraid.
If the KoW Dwarfs were re-done in the same style as the characters then I’d be more inclined to pick them – they have a Tolkien-esque quality to those metals and such. Just the plastics I’m not fond of.

And if Ben ain’t picking up a set of DWARFS! – who would then 😉
