About the Project

My long-running project to create a 1/300 universe of miniatures and terrain inspired by the more diesel/steam-punk elements from studio ghibli movies. Mostly done through CAD and 3d printing (my own work and machine)

APC on the orizon

Here is the first WIP picture of the APC I’m currently working on for the line. The soft top in the back should be removable and allow for variants.

Heavy tanks rolling in!

The first production models of the heavy tank have arvived from microworld miniatures, and I couldn’t stop myself from taking a couple of pictures with them in my terain.  I really love how these have turned out, and there should be more in this style from me soon!

a tank! no not the fish kind.

After a long drought I had a burst of inspiration, so here is a new heavy tank, somewhere in between the absolute land cruiser from before and a regular MBT.

After doing more aircraft I found the seaplane transport was a bit small, and its wings quite bland, so I have created a updated version whith larger and more shaped wings. I also increased its overal size so it looks like it might fit at least a squad of intantry in there. After doing more aircraft I found the seaplane transport was a bit small, and its wings quite bland, so I have created a updated version whith larger and more shaped wings. New flying bases

Somebody (rightfully) commented the big black flying bases were a bad look on the aircraft, so I made some new ones that should blend in better with the terrain. Simple washers with milliput and a steel rod.

Fieldstone walls tutorial

I got a question how I did my walls, so here is a quick tutorial for you guys as well.

I make the wall base from cereal box cardstock, the walls are double layered. I bend and cut them up for that organic old look you get in the countryside, but you can play around with this. I keep the base a bit larger than needed at this point, so I can weigh it down when the glue is drying, I only cut it back before painting the base green for the flock.

Then I glue sand to it, I filter my sand through a strainer to keep out the finest stuff.  I glue with full strength PVA first and seal with 3 to 1 watered down PVA second. While that is drying I try to fill in any empty spots I can find, especially on the top, the paper edge can show up after dry brushing.

When that is done, I prime with Vallejo surface primer, first layer of German medium grey. Then a black wash finishing with a wolf grey drybrush.

The base is painted with knarloc green base, followed by the flock. I glue this the same as the sand, full strength first than watered down. My flock is pretty bright so I tone it down with some soft tone army painter quick shade.

Finally I gue down some happy little bushes, bob ross style. Try to get some big dark bushes with smaller brighter ones right next to it for the best effect and there you go, a lot of work for a tiny wall!

These are some work in progress images of a rocket fighter we are working on, still trying to get the shape down but you can see what we are going at I think.  Loads of variant cockpits tried, I’m not going to spam all of them here.

Now, this is where the project really takes off, this was finished this week. The design was done together with Eli Arendt of Loud ninja games. Again one of those things that just flies (pun intended) together by itself. This was also one of the first 3d prints I did after my printer came back from repairs, quite pleased with the results.

The “stork” is a push prop variable wing tank hunter craft. Piloted by knights with their squires manning the AT guns in the bowels of the craft.

If you look closely you can see the radial engine in the back.

People and places

Going a bit broad stroke on past work here, but when you have tanks and aircrat you need people and places to fly/drive over right?  The infantry is 6mm iregular miniatures franco prusian war french since the soldiers in howls moving castle are wearing that exact uniform. The knights are 3d printed as wel, very happy with those!

The second piece of this project was the “goose” ornithopter. This time much more of my own design. Very happy with how this one turned out, though it has been a while and I think I might do a version with larger wings, they appear a bit on the small side to me now.

The thing that really got this project going was a attempt to make a 1/300 version of the Miyazaki “bad guy one” tank, CAD work, 3d printing and painting done in 2 days I think. one of those little projects that just go on top speed.
