4Ground’s Design Process & Future Plans
July 4, 2018 by dignity
Big Ben and Cad from 4Ground reveal their design process, upcoming projects, and plans for the future.
The guys have been busy designing new rules systems and buildings which they'll be bringing out to add their extensive ranges of tabletop gaming terrain. In between the occasional segway from Big Ben we'll also be hearing about the planning and challenges during the production process.
Do you have any concepts you'd submit to the guys?

@dignity Surely 20 percent off means buy 5 for the price of 4?
At 5 you have paid 100%, and the 6th is the extra 20% you saved e.g. you used 100% of your toy budget and got 120% of buildings
but you have not got one free just 20% free
What I’m surprised at is they’ve never designed any sci-fi vehicles as a number of other mdf designers have with their pre primed stuff would make it easy to fill a table
I got an idea ?
How about a Roman Fort or marching camp?!
Or maybe even Hadrian’s Wall ?
?????
Where did I hear that idea before? ….;)
I don’t know, I’m liking the sound of this “Rorke’s Drift” was it? Colour me interested 😉
Seven Years War battle isn’t it?
mmmm I thought it was part of the Battle of the Chesapeake, I mean why else would they be drifting if not on the sea?
Good point
If I buy four buildings at $100 each, I’ve paid $400. If I buy 5 buildings at $80 each, I’ve paid $400. I.E. buy four, get one free.
that was my thinking
Buildings jutting out / built out of craggy rocks. You could use the resin for the rock face and mdf for the building and you could design it so that you could join sets together to build up a populated or abandoned rocky cliff side settlement.
So Ben if you were to play Rorke’s Drift you’d prefer a pulpier Zulu-esque version? Fair enough that can be arranged, when are you coming over to play?
Great video, I do feel like I only understood about 50% of what the guys were throwing out. But as ever always lovely to see so much enthusiasm and passion from people who clearly love what they are doing, and want to do right by their staff and their fanbase. Sounds like plenty of exciting stuff down the line and I’ll rely on BoW to help bring it into clarity as these wonder approach from out of the fog of war of the future.
Well that was fun. Certainly not a company short on ideas and the cool thing is that most of them eventually make it to the tabletop. I’m starting saving for Rorke’s Drift now and the 10mm Napoleonic stuff is firmly on the long list for when it eventually comes out. Bravo 4Ground!
great video guys.
