Sarissa Build Up A Dark Age Farmstead From Roman Villa
June 25, 2018 by brennon
Sarissa Precision has a new piece of terrain which crosses the timeline between the Arthurian Britain through to the later Dark Age period and the invasions by the Saxons and the Vikings. Check out the Dark Age Villa Farmstead...
The building shows off just how the people of the land simply reclaimed what was left by the retreating Romans and turned it into something practical. I like that they've gone through and changed the roofing material as parts of the building have clearly fallen apart.
Long past its prime, the building was clearly rather splendid back in the day and you were probably a very lucky Saxon if you managed to get your hands on this.
As you might imagine from one of these Sarissa Precision buildings, the roof can be taken off so you can play around inside the building.
I think this is a rather awesome building which helps tell a story of collapsing civilisation and the reclamation of it by those who came afterwards.
What do you think?

Maybe a bit big for a Saga piece, but thematically right up the street for my Dark Age Welsh boyos.
Beautiful piece of terrain.
Looks really cool, got some Sarissa stuff for my 20mm Napoleonics – only thing I don’t like is the depth of the thatch on this kit. For thatch to work it needs to be at least 1ft thick, just looks a bit, well, thin. Great for a nobles country residence, or, be good as a London (or possibly York, Chester etc) townhouse where the wealthiest and most powerful of the local Saxon establishment have re-inhabited the grand remains of the old riverside merchants houses.
a great looking farm house.
