Win 4Ground’s New Sci Fi Modular Terrain
June 22, 2018 by dignity
Today we've got Cad and Ben in from 4Ground to talk about their new awesomely designed modular terrain for your Sci Fi games, these pieces are perfect for games of Star Wars, Necromunda and Dark Age.
Shaping the walls with magnetic fixtures allows you to be a little more aggressive on the tabletop too, these things are tough as nails and will take quite a lot of force to move on your board. Did we mention, you could win your own set of Modular Sci Fi terrain yourself?
Comment with your best idea to play a movie franchise on this terrain and your favourite quote from that franchise.
What would you play on this terrain?

Oo, I want.
Its so smart and oh so pretty…
I would use this terrain to play Aliens. Of course, playing as the Marines. As for the quote, anything said by Bill Paxton, but my favorite will always be,
“That’s it, man! Game over, man! Game over!”
oh wow,4 ground have once again done very nicely here. I really like those walls, they’re very indistrial looking rather than grimdark and I love that. Very impressive indeed. I also love the fact the container has a removable roof and the crates work really well along side it all.
Obviously Star Wars using any ruleset from Imperial Assault to Legion to homebrew. “This is not going to go how you think.” But that’s the obvious choice. Another choice would be hot man vs machine action in Terminator probably using Infinity rules since they’re so brutal. “Come with me if you want olive.” I’m 98% sure that’s what he said. Still not what we’d prefer. We’d actually go with boarding actions in the Mass Effect universe using a homebrew ruleset that accounts for amount of fire for suppression and such … or just use Infinity again. “I’m Commander Shepard and… Read more »
Just found another ruleset that would work great for this terrain: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/245175/CQB-Futuristic-Skirmish-Miniatures-Rules
Not really a film franchaise per say (only has two films the second of which was a reboot), but it has a long running comic book franchaise, so my answer would be Judge Dredd for what to play on it and quote has got to be “I am the Law!”
They look even better in the flesh, need to get round to lighting them up….
Fantastic! Will have to get a set of this myself! That’s very, very nice!
The way that terrain slides around and is configurable, I’d have to go with “Maze Runner”. Just add a nasty gribbly thingy (as a nemesis), and a runner for each player. Then have the terrain sliding around on a dice roll as the players try to escape (possibly cutting off the gribbly from chasing YOU and instead chasing another player) 🙂
almost forgot the quote……
“Great we’re bloody inspired”
― James Dashner, The Maze Runner
heh
Infinity, Killteams, necromunda, all the rpg’s my group plays. Seems like that stuff would get a lot of use.
Escape From New York….”They sent in their best man, and when we roll across the 59th Street bridge tomorrow, on our way to freedom, we’re going to have their best man leading the way – from the neck up! On the hood of my car!”
Given that the terrain works for current settings I would pick James Bond using the 7TV rules and I always love Connery films. My quote is ” No, Mr. Bond I expect you to die.” from Goldfinger.
Great looking terrain. Would work well with a Firefly game.
Jayne – “Ten percent of nothin’ is … let me do the math here … nothin’ into nothin’ … carry the nothin’ … “
Be great for Firefly RPG “Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal”
Looks great… the only issue, I have found, is that I magnetized some of my Infinity models and whenever I use them on some of the magnetized terrains out there, they click into place over the terrain… Lol… That said, this can be super GREAT for any REMs with Climbing Plus =p… Hang right off the wall and draw LOS to the enemy that thought it was safe =p
Ha! The Mercs skirmish rules has a snap-to-cover mechanic. Could happen automatically with this terrain.
What would I play on this terrain? What wouldn’t I! Dredd (“Perps were uncooperative”), Aliens (“She doesn’t have bad dreams because she’s just a piece of plastic”), Space Hulk (“A Quote from the film script I keep sending to Warner Bros and keep getting back”), Star Wars (“What I told you is true, from a certain point of view”)…
But really, someone should make a Red Dwarf game, and I’d play that on it. “Dwayne Dibley?”
Petition 7TV, I’m sure they’d manage. 😉
chronicles of riddick would be great on this terrain
Riddick: You remember that favorite game of yours?
Keira: Who’s The Better Killer?
Riddick: Let’s play.
would be amazing
TMNT, ‘That was my best shirt,’ Jerico – Blod Royal
Hmm.. thinking outside the box a bit… but I could set these up as a Trench run in Star Wars X-Wing. Just need to add some dishes and canons lol. So for Star Wars quote I’ll do : Yoda – “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”
Love the 4 ground stuff … just wish there was better distribution, or some for here in Canada. 😀
So many possibilities…. Blade Runner, James Bond, Aliens….
I’ll settle for Terminator and “I’ll be back!”
Ok I am in for this one – Gaslands – in an industrial setting with modified rules for time travel (e.g. short jumps ahead in time for advantages) .. and the quote – The way I see it, if you’re gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style? Dr. Emmett Brown (Back to the Future)
Perfect for Cat Women from the Moon or Project Moonbase
“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain …”
tl;dr I want someone to make a Blade Runner game
or the prequel that wasn’t (but really was) Soldier.
“But one soldier, against seventeen. What are you going to do?”
Todd: “I’m going to kill them all, Sir.” another Kurt classic
Great looking terrain and usefull for lots of games out there! Thanks for the vid and awesome prize!
I first thought of Aliens at the start of the video when looking at it (still slowly assembling my KS stuff and basing them…). The classic quote from Ripley: “Get away from her you b****!” And a lot of what Hudson says could be said here too 😉
Comment, comment, comment- I never win- comment, comment, comment
Ha! You’re a winner to me sir!…..or madam…..it’s hard to tell these days?
