Live D&D would be great 🙂
im actually now going to read my 4th edition rulebooks I bought about 3 years ago
Can someone please post this on Youtube? We don’t get Justin.TV in Thailand anymore and I’d love to watch an episode of Turn 8! Thanks in hope… 🙂
We tried the process to send it over to YouTube last time and it was crap so i don’t think its going to be possible unfortunately 🙁
I’m afraid that we can’t get our Justin.TV recordings to upload at the moment.
As soon as we find out how to fix that, we’ll be uploading Turn 8 to YouTube.

No worries Warren, I suppose it’s a fair trade for tropical beaches and sunshine 😉 Hope you had a blast, and a belated Happy St. Paddies day to you all!
You seem to have switched from a fairly positive opinion on 8th edition to a fairly negative one …
I can’t view the recording, Flash player just crashes immediately, even on the justin.tv website version of the recording. Either its Vista causing me probs or I’m cursed not to watch it! I did see the behind-the-scenes bits on justin.tv, but it won’t play the actual show 🙁 I am miffed, waaaaaaaaaaaaaagh-that’s an Orc crying, same as his war cry, but with tears :`( lol.
I wish I could’ve seen it live but I missed it. Does anyone else have a problem viewing the recording?
Missed the Live Show guys but glad you had it recorded, great show again and nice to hear it’s going to be a regular thing, I’ll have to rework my schedule 😉
While I’m not a DnD fan I totally agree with the idea of games which let you just use anything, not just as proxies but stat them up especially. There are a number of games out there, the best example for me being the rules by Rattrap Productions. They describe their games as narrative skirmish games, they have mixed aspects of roleplaying and skirmish and you can choose how much of each you want to mix in. You can have a “GM” controling the action, or you can have random event cards which you uncover as your group of characters… Read more »
i’m watchin this caus eof baby!
Another Great video.
I think the whole insight into a Hero Quest game is spot on. I didn’t even really like Hero Quest when I first played it as a kid, but from the moment we set those carboard dungeon tiles and cobblestone door frames on my friends kitchen table, I knew I was hooked on the fantasy and dungeon crawler genres.
Then it was just a matter of time until I found my way to Warhammer and GW and never looked back.
Magic is surely what Fantasy is about, they need to fix that!!
lol stupid yet genius!
MWG Dave FTW.
About D&D:
If You like roleplaying: Pre-4th edition
If you like World Of Warcraft: 4th edition
I completely disagree… there’s as much roleplaying in 4th Edition D&D as you want to put into it. There are guys here at BoW who like roleplaying and those that prefer the skirmish style combat system. 4th Edition D&D has all that. A tactical combat system and roleplaying… or at least my games do! Any system is only as good as the GM who runs the game and the level of particpation of the players. Perhaps when we start filming some of our D&D games, we’ll be able to change your mind. Your comment is the type of sweeping statement… Read more »
the dreadknight is a shock because its a Marine Vehicle type thing with smooth corners 😛
Hoorray, Classic Battletech 😉 About D&D – loved to play 3rd edition and stopped caring when they started to spit out new editions far too quickly. 3rd edition was a big step up from AD&D and I still admire the quality of some of the books (Forgotten Realm Campaign Setting). And while I’m sure, that the follow-up editions are of the same artistic value, the gameplay changes were imo not neccessary. The good thing about roleplay is, that it doesn’t matter, what ruleset you are playing with as long as all players agree on the same set. So you can… Read more »
What I love about D&D 4th edition are that the days of “I’m a Fighter… I swing my sword” are gone.
Now every class has tactical moves in combat and utility powers to use outside of combat.
It really is a great game.
I agree about enough races now in fantasy and 40K. They cut back on a few races… better to come out with original fully developed races than something for the sake of being new. Remember Squats, Zoats and Chaos Dwarves? Squats: absorbed into IG. Zoats: extinct. CD:… still playing football… maybe make a comeback as a special unit or 2 in a different book? Keep it simple, make fully fleshed out races that have loads of options. Themes within a theme. As for ork reproduction my theory is that the spores are only in orc blood. That’s why they are… Read more »
Good point about something like Heroscape or Heroquest, something that can be mass produced.
@zawyvern2: I like the orc reproduction theory but prefer the humies one more 🙂
Just getting to watch this and I have two things to say: 1) HELL YES to Warhammer Quest returning. It was my first miniatures game and it has a bit of nostalgia for me. 2) If you want to fuel those Fantasy engines, just wait to watch ‘A Game of Thrones’ when that series starts on HBO.
