Don’t Panic! Dad’s Army is Coming to Warlord
January 15, 2014 by dracs
Dad's Army is, perhaps, one of the most iconic of shows of British television. Now we have exciting news as Warlord Games are soon to bring out their own range of miniatures of these classic characters.
All the miniatures are sculpted up and the release is fast approaching. Apparently we can look forward to seeing all of the Home Guard in both their uniform and civilian dress.
I grew up in Thetford where the old show was filmed, so Dad's Army was a major part of my childhood. To say I am excited for these miniatures is something of an understatement. We can hopefully expect to see the first of the miniatures from Warlord soon.
Will any of you be joining the Home Guard to defend England's green and pleasant land?

my all time favourite tv show 😀 and quite possibly one of the finest tv shows ever made. i don’t have any warload stuff but i’ll be getting these ASAP!!!
DONT TELL HIM YOUR NAME PIKE!!!
Do I need to say anymore??? 😀 can NOT wait for this to be put out; going right into my British Bolt Action
I am with you there. I have had a plan for a while to make a Home Guard style army for Secrets of the Third Reich and the cheerful chaps of Warmington-on-Sea will be leading the charge.
I wonder if there will be a special rule for Godfrey regarding his weak bladder. On the roll of a one Godrey wanders off to find a loo.
Foundry did an excellent set of dad’s army characters, plus downed Luftwaffe crewmen and nuns! All the figures were identifiable to the actors in the show. So Warlord have a hard act to follow. Corgi did models of Jonesey’s butcher van and Hodges greengrocer van, just slightly over scale for 28mm but they look good. Vehicles may be hard to find as they were released a few years ago. I’ve painted two sections of home guard and plan to try them out with the Bolt Action rules. I wonder if I could get a dolls house bath and pram wheels… Read more »
That was a plan of mine too actually. Was going to count it as a really bad armored infantry unit in SOTR. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one which was the right scale
Dad’s Army was my second favourite WW2 documentary, so I’m delighted that Warlord are bringing these fellas out.
Hopefully this will be a massive triumph, enough to spur them on to sculpting an Allo Allo range. If that happens I might as well just send them a kidney.
I am looking forward to these being released as they are sculpted by the talented Paul Hicks, check out his Mutton figures that are being sold by Empress Miniatures, and using them for my Very British Civil War game.
Superb stuff, I’ll have to get these just to repeat all the old catchphrases during a game. Hope the cpl Jones model has a suitably large bayonet
“They don’t like it up em”
Wargamesfoundry.com already do some great 28mm minis of the Dad’s Army characters – worth checking out…
I have some of them somewhere in my lead mountain.
Don’t Panic! Don’t Panic!
I must confess I didn’t know anything about the show… But seeing as you all beam about it later better look it up 🙂
It’s quite old. Goes back to late 60’s through the 70’s classic comedy, probably dated now but fond memories
so 28mm then, yes ?
interested to see how well they turn out and the extent of the figures.
Best line: ‘You stupid boy’
Best scene: Mannering drunk trying to get into a tent, gets tangled around one of the poles and mutters ‘Bloody revolving door’
As for ‘Don’t tell him Pike!’, you can see it on Youtube

I would like Warlord to do a Kelly’s Heroes box set with characters from the movie with a couple of half tracks, jeep and oddball’s Sherman tank with loud speakers on top of the turret 🙂
Bloody fantastic!
