About the Project

I was supposed to be writing an article about brush maintenance, well it's not going very far with that. I have now decided to turn this into a project where I will try to make entries covering different topics or answering different questions related to brush care and maintenance. I will be covering airbrush maintenance in here too.

So you’ve gotten yourself a new brush and want to start painting with it, but first there are a couple of steps to go through to make sure the brush is good to use. When getting a new brush the first thing to do is check for defects and return it or contact the manufacturer if there are any. If no defects are found then rinse the brush the brush under lukewarm water, not hot water, in order to clean wax or maybe some dust particles that might have collected on your brush before you bought it. Some brush manufacturers put a wax on their brushes to protect them during transit and to make sure they get to you in perfect condition.

I want to use this entry to list the topics I’m going to cover. This list will be updated constantly with new entries as they are requested. I will cover both brush and airbrush maintenance in this project.

  • Maintenance while painting.

  • Metallics and normal paints.

  • The right brush for the job.

  • My personal brush cleaning routine.

  • What does brush soap do?

  • Storage and transportation.

  • Giving the airbrush a quick clean.

  • Maintaining your airbrush.
