About the Project

I've been tempted to look back towards the world of Age Of Sigmar once more and it seems like the army in question is going to be the Sylvaneth!

So, as with every project it begins with me picking up the book and doing some reading…then getting too excited about it.

The Beginning

I have to say the Battletome for the Sylvaneth is very good indeed. Yes, it is typically over the top and Age Of Sigmar with the use of so many weird new words that it would have Susie Dent’s head in a spin…

But, it has given me some interesting thoughts on where to take the project as I got to know their background and their make up.

My first thought was to buy the Start Collecting Force…

The Beginning

…but I genuinely think that that is going to overwhelm me and present me with that massive load of plastic I have been trying to avoid. So, instead, I’m going to try and focus it in on a few different areas instead and look towards the Spirit of Durthu and their Kurnoth Hunters.

The Beginning

I think you’ll agree that the Spirit Of Durthu is an absolutely amazing piece and I love the style that Games Workshop went for with the new Sylvaneth/Wood Elf range.

I’m going to try and go for a similar ‘wash’ approach that I’ve used on Daemons in the past as it should provide me with a bright and vibrant scheme to develop.

The next step is to snap up some of the Kurnoth Hunters, maybe two boxes, so I can do them armed for close combat and ranged fighting.

Beyond that I want to try and tie in as many of the ‘new’ models as I can and look towards the likes of the Tree and Spite Revenants, (more so the Tree Revenants) as they once again completely captured my attention.

I’m thinking of going with bright green and then a bright blue to contrast against them, making them as vibrant as the artwork you see in the Battletome.

From that point, I will most certainly be snapping up some Dryads and the like alongside the Branchwych character BUT I really wanted to paint up some of those more majestic pieces first.

This is very much going to be a slow burner as it is going to take quite a while to properly dive into this much stuff for a force in Age Of Sigmar, especially as primarily it is just for me to paint.

Hopefully, folks have some ideas and such for what I can do when it comes to painting Sylvaneth!
