Skorne Unleash Their Despoiler Onto The Hordes Battlefield
January 9, 2014 by brennon
Hordes have not been forgotten in the upcoming releases from Privateer Press! The forces of Skorne are getting themselves Despoiler, who certainly has a lot going on...
"A walking testament to the power of mortitheugy, Despoiler is as much a beast as it is an arcane implement through which the Void howls. The product of unorthodox experimentation, the beast is driven mad by the shrieking of damned souls. Consequently it fights in a near-frenzy, smashing victims to a pulp, though their deaths serve only to further fuel the din in its mind."
With all that said, I still don't like the model. I don't think there are many of the Skorne models that I actually find that appealing and this hasn't changed my opinion on them. I think it might be that they just seem a little bit too 'crazy' although in this case Despoiler looks like he has just been caught sneaking around the kitchen looking for a snack by his Mum.
The stance doesn't really speak 'frenzy' to me. What are your thoughts?
Are you a Skorne lover?
I agree with you @brennon it looks like it’s moving too cautiously (or backing away from something) imho. Nothing like a mad tormented creature which would realistically be in a more violent pose with it’s fists flailing all over the place.
I have a small Skorne force and will not be purchasing Despoiler. The head sculpt is most disappointing.
Looks like Baby Sinclair from the American TV sitcom ‘Dinosaurs’ with some lamps on it. Proper rubbish.
not the mama!
I actually quite like it. It’s purpose Issa a magic support beast so caution seems correct… Think the skin couloir is wrong and needs a more magical aura (glowing eyes, mystical lamps etc.) think the description it’s given is a bit odd though as it’s not meant to be all that fighty…
The head is a bit strange but another paintjob would help I think.
Well the imagry of Skorne is always a little marmite so these comments are no shock regarding the views on the model.
The bit people are missing is that PP are going back to making a specific character model and not a kit to bolt onto an existing basic beast.
