Happy Weekend!
It’s the Weekend!!
Looks like a weekender full of shiny…
Decision time for me. With MB:P running and Solomon Kane imminent as KS, do I back the fascinating 1666 KS closing on Monday too?
Sell a kidney and back both?
?
Which two of the three – or all three?
As a previous backer I am only upgrading MB:P and getting a couple of expansions which may barely count…
I guess with all three there are levels to pledge at now with more to throw at them over time through the pledge managers!
Happy Weekend!!
It’s the first 2.0 Weekender! Can’t wait to dig in!
Seems a bit strange having all the politics during the battle surely this should all happen before you put your troops on the table in Ice and Fire
Possibly but it would front load the game in my opinion. While the abstraction in this case might be a little less realistic I think it adds a great flavour to the game 🙂
That’s what Richard thought at Bosworth as well ?
I’m showing my ignorance again here, but what’s the story behind this @suetoniuspaullinus
The Wars of the Roses were like the real life Game of Thrones..so basically you and your men are turning up for battle only to hold back a little to see which side is more likely to win before joining the fray..
Just like during the ECW regiments sometimes switched allegiances even already in the fight.
In other words politics and intrigues during battle are a fantastic way to spice up your mass battles.
I would argue that the Stanley’s and Bosworth shows this exactly He was in negotiations With Henry Tudor long before he landed and Richard threatening to execute his son I believe firmed his animosity towards the Plantagenets.

Love your show! I’m a bit of a noob to board gaming, so I unfortunately can’t comment on which theme forces I’d like to see converted…but I’ll try anyway. I would Love to see Sea Monsters forces converted into an army box! Were-sharks and Angler Fish Monsters would be insane!
Don’t you worry, that’s a great entry mate 🙂
Hope you have a great time exploring the hobby 🙂
Is that the Flash shirt from the mystery box you bought at UKGE that you’re wearing @dignity ? 44 prizes for UKGE? *impressed whistle* So which of you do we have to bribe to get selected as the winner? ?. And I’m fairly sure we all want the Fighting Fantasy book, so it’s not just going to be Warren and Justin in the ring – we’re gonna have to hire out the Colosseum in Rome and have a massive melee, medieval tourney style. ? Re: Projects and writing stories – might have to start one to share the various fanfics… Read more »
Great Show. Mythic Battles: Pantheon OR Ragnarök needs to be this year. That way we can see it by 2020.
Solomon Kane, really looking forward to the let’s play.
Faction (have never played Hordes, but this one looks interesting)– The Retribution of Scyrah
The more I see of ASOIAF the more I like it. Really glad I’ve backed the KS quite heavily. The miniatures alone certainly justified this but all your Let’s Plays were really good too and indicating it could well be something more than just a collection of nice minis.
Politics were always being made on the battlefield, ask Richard III..
Solomon Kane on the other hand doesn’t mean anything to me and just hope it goes well for them (Az).
That’s where Az got to! Also please tell Lloyd we miss him. Really impressed with the ASOIAF game. Figures are spectacular. Shame you didn’t have a shot of the Greatjohn and The Mountain together but I forgive you. Solomon Kane looks interesting, I think Prudence was my favourite model but all look great. I thought it was just me with the Water Elemental, guess not. Maybe we expect it to look more Idoneth Deepkin? I’m a little behind with Warmahoards 3.0 and haven’t even assembled my Ret starter. The theme force I wouldn’t want is Vayl 2.0 and Gryphons. I… Read more »

Anyone else missing the Weekender? I was starting to worry, with no show for two weeks. It feels good having it back.
Also, Solomon Kane has a strange draw for me. Can’t wait for the Let’s Play.
Wow
Wow it’s a ogrun weekend 🙂
Your prize is…a half empty box. Why oh why do companies still do this over packaging.
It look more impressive, and a standard size box for all fractions also help standardised stocking -both for PP and for your LFGS
Which implies that this faction pack contains 50% of the future faction pack releases? I doubt it. Box size is a con to make it appear the pack has more content than it really does. It takes up shelf spaces, costs more to ship, and we as consumers are paying the price for this. If publishers had to pay the true cost of excessive packaging this would stop immediately.
Word on the grapevine is that Solomon Kane board game is pretty hot stuff 😉 :p
Mmmmm Ben…I wonder where you heard that? 😉
I would love to see a Rhulic Arcanist Themed army.
That would be awesome if they looked back towards expanding on the Rhullic forces.
Jay, Weekender is back.
As for warmahordes themed force. Sorcha has always been my favorite and she’s supposed to get a version in man-o-war armour. I’d love her to lead a full force of those armoured madmen.
@warzan I was watching this through YouTube app and was getting some sound/image judder that I don’t get watching on this page thru browser on the same device. Could be an issue with upload.
Both play from the same source file so that’s strange:)
@warzan, I think the bits on the water elemental that you’re unsure about are meant to look like the froth/foam you get on the crests of waves and on the shoreline during and after a storm.
Most likely 🙂
Spume!! Careful Warren… That’s spelt S-P-U-M-E…
?
Is the competition question limited to Privateer Press ranges or any ranges?
Go with either mate its not an issue 🙂 @noyjatat
Been thinking about this one and might have an answer that covers both. A Legends boxset, featuring those miniatures that have been pivotal to the lore of the game. This would make a great purchase for painters and maybe with a creative rules write something for arena fighting.
1897: Bram Stoker publishes Dracula, within which Abraham van Helsing, as Jonathan Harker’s old teacher, is invited to investigate what is wrong with Lucy, Harker’s fiancee. He is then caught up in the story as the academic who works out what needs to be done. He is the original Vampire hunter/slayer well portrayed by Peter Cushing in numerous Hammer films. Typically a tweed wearing Victorian academic with a drive to fight vampirism. 1928: Solomon Kane, a C16th puritan first appears in serialised publications by Robert E Howard. Clearly influenced by historic characters like Matthew Hopkins (self titled Witchfinder General from… Read more »
Fantastic summary @coxjul ?
If I recall, the Van Helsing in the film (also a vampire slayer) is meant to be an ancestor of the Bram Stoker character, hence the shared name.
The Solomon Kane film is a bit of a blur tbh.
Glad it’s not just me who found the Solomon Kane film completely forgettable.
Yep. I watched it recently expecting it to be enjoyable popcorn / mindless fun… Wow, was it a snooze fest…
I would Love to see The Thornfall Alliance (Minions Farrow) get a theme box
PIGMEN!!!
HBO in the last couple of days confirmed the making of the pilot for the prequel to GoT
Awesome!

Might help keep the NI economy afloat for another few years
…and George RR Martin finds another excuse not to complete writing the last book!
I know that authors don’t actually have any obligation to complete a series, but old George is beyond taking the mick at this point.
I don’t really know much about Hordes but those Ogrun minis look really really nice. If I had to suggest a faction to add then I’d have to go for: one that looks as cool as the ogruns. Nice show guys, Solomon Kane looks very fine and that snippet about Red Alert got me interested in yet another game. My house and wallet cannot cope with all this cool stuff!
Good morning all, very much looking forward to the Solomon Kane KS, I will be going deep on the 12th.
