Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Champions Founders Pack Now Available
June 7, 2018 by brennon
If you liked playing Warhammer Age Of Sigmar Champions at UK Games Expo then you might want to consider the Founders Pack which is now available to buy from PlayFusion over on their webstore.
This card game takes some tried and tested mechanics from Lightseekers, but gives them a new twist. Your Champions for each Grand Alliance will be battling against each other but also seeking to unlock their Blessings for mighty in-game effects.
The Founders Pack itself isn't cheap, coming in at £200 BUT if you really like the game and want some of the additional extras they've thrown in as well, it could be a good start for your collection.
You do get quite a lot in the set, and the unique playmats is a nice touch. Getting each of the big Campaign Decks for the Grand Alliances is also cool and means maybe you could split the cost of this with a few friends who also liked the game?
Will you be going in for this?

200 of my fine British pounds. I may need more convincing.
That’s a brave pricing decision! People will have to be pretty sure this is a game they want to play to lay out that kind of dosh! Where’s the perceived value? As someone who generally doesn’t enjoy deckbuilding games I can’t see it myself, but even if you like deckbuilding, that is a lot of cash for a new game which may not make it to popularity.
I think a big part of this comes from the way it has gone down at shows and such. People are very much enjoying it, and if they could get a group of friends into the game alongside all of this special stuff – well, it would be a great way to start enjoying Champions.
Considering how well Lightseekers is doing, and the way Age Of Sigmar is rising in popularity – I could see this going great guns.
Fair enough. As a “club” purchase intended for a group rather than an individual then the price seems more reasonable. I also get that collectable card games are priced higher vis-a-vis their cost of manufacture than the minis games I am more into, because … reasons. If its also already developed a strong following and interest then perhaps it isn’t such a punt as I imagined. It’s just hard to get over the “£200 for a couple of packets of cards” initial reaction! Maybe I’m just getting old, but I just struggle to see the value compared to what £200… Read more »
That’s a hefty price tag. I know you get quite a bit but I’d have been interested if I could have got a ‘Gamer’S Pack’ that dropped all the extras. Decks, boosters, champion cards, playmats and life counters. Chuck that at me for £100 and I’d snap it up. Especially considering your decks have such low card counts. You’d need 2 boosters just to bring it up to scratch.
£12 for MtG (everyone’s main competitor in this market) gets you a 60 card deck, two boosters and a deck box.
That is really high price tag for CCG. For less than that you can get Commander Anthology boxed set for MtG that has 4 decks for commander (fun multiplayer format) and life counters. As some one who on regular basis plays and buys products for TCGs/CCGs I can say that that’s too high price.
I’m really interested in this game but…Wow. I reckon I could buy every expansion of Arkham Horror tcg and a starter for MTG and still have change. Or even just collect a whole new army for AoS proper. I know all those games are very different beasts but when gamers have a budget to spend and interest in more than one product, this doesn’t stack up too favourably for my tastes, of course it will be a dream offering for others I’m sure. I’ll wait to see what the regular pricing is like, I assume this is just due to… Read more »
It’s a lot for one person, but 4 campaign decks mean 4 people could go in on this and still have 5 champions each, splitting the 4 additional unique champions. You are paying a premium for being first, but I have high hopes for this based on how much fun lightseekers is.
This is expensive, which is a shame because that sets a certain tone. Even with a bit of GW tax on top this is pushing it more than a bit.
I am not the greatest CCG fan but this did intregue me based on the glowing reports lightseeker got. After some investigation I discovered that alas this is not for me as the company doesn’t ship to Australia …..
I believe there may have been a mix up between dollars and pounds on the pricing of this and that the correct price for this set is £150
Looks like the price has now been updated to £150
