Gorgeous model. While this seems mostly complete, the one technique I think is striking about late-late war German stuff is the red-primer effect. Having 1-2 small parts on the tank painted just in the red primer not only provides a great accent color, it also helps differentiate “last 6 months of the war” tanks from “last days of the war” tanks. The tank isn’t perfectly factory painted, it looks like the repair depot replaced a part and pushed it out the door.

Yes… But while it makes a striking contrast, it tends to be used by modellers out of all proportion to reality. While Red Oxide Primer was used as a camouflage paint component for some of the factory applied schemes, crews and Werkstatte Kompanies would tend to respray replacement parts as soon as possible. These replacement parts were generally fitted in short term repair yards and respray would have been done as par for the course.
