cake pillars are just the right size to dress up ruins and add some hard cover for troops in desert or jungles , ect … I fill mine with expanding foam then hack them up for mounting .
The shorter one also make great statue bases.
They also look good for for archways at large/government entrance’s for a centre piece on the gaming table.
@boaz if you hunt about you can find older cake pillars made from plaster. Less messing about having to fill them, just drop them on concrete and naturally shatter ^^
Or you could be more directed and precise in your damaging
Nice idea. I never thought about using cake pillars 🙂
So that was my first effort to post pics straight from phone … I can’t seem them ether but I will try the link option right … https://postimg.cc/gallery/3b23ckvqe/ … there.
Maybe I have gremlins or maybe new forum bugs … don’t know … https://postimg.cc/gallery/3d23ckvqe/ is the link , cut’n’past to see all 3 ruins …
Yeah. Wedding cake pillars are great for terrain. Not so easy to find plaster ones nowadays but plastic ones are dirt cheap. None of the pics above are working. I shall try and load some pics of the terrain i made for shadespire.
@warzan Cheers. They were really quick and easy to make. I’m happy with them and they stop my shadespire plans going horribly wrong when i realise that i cant go across the blocked hexes on the map which aren’t quite shaded-out enough in my opinion.
Knew it was just a matter of time for the pic upload thingy to get a fix …
… these are from an unfinished set I brought with me when I moved … I left a desert set and jungle set , both having ruins (with pillars) in them …
Another cheap and easy terrain trick … seen a little in the above pics … try running old model / mini plastic sprue through a hand cranked meat grinder … instant rubble that glues to plastic terrain or base easy peasy and paints up just fine … by the by them old grinders are cheap in 2nd hand stores or at yard sales …
