Boba Fett Movie In The Works By James Mangold
May 26, 2018 by brennon
James Mangold, the Director behind the rather superb outing for Wolverine that was Logan, is going to be at the helm of the new Boba Fett movie spin-off. It seems like the Star Wars movie franchise is really spinning up the gears now.
Of course, it's too early to know where the story might go, but Mangold proved he knew what he was doing when he got the gritty and tough world of Logan right on screen. Hopefully, we get ourselves a film which doesn't just focus on how Boba Fett links into the main Star Wars story but instead looks beyond this to some more of his side jobs and what turned him into the Bounty Hunter he is in the original trilogy.
One of the criticisms levelled against Solo has been that it's not so much an origin story of how he came to be the Scoundrel we know and love, but how 'a man got the stuff he owns' which seems quite apt.
I hope that as we look towards more of these 'Star Wars Stories' we'll see them looking to do less cashing in, and more storytelling, developing the wider (and incredibly deep) world of Star Wars.
Boba Fett just has to be cool...please Gods make him cool!

Instead of an origin story maybe they should do one of him escaping the Saarlac and what he gets up to afterwards; in the old EU there was a trilogy of books called something like ‘The Bounty Hunter Wars’ which dealt with this (also with flashbacks to around the time of EpIV which tied in to the main plot), so they could mine that for ideas (probably best not to go for a direct adaptation and instead just lift a few ideas from it). Could also be a good way of featuring the other bounty hunters from ESB (iirc in… Read more »
As cool as Boba Fett is he is also overrated. Personally I would had found Lea movie more appealing considering that she is one of most important founders of Rebel Alliance and it would give chance to explore her life before that as well as how and why she got involved with creation of Rebel Alliance.
For Leia they could always do a TV series charting her from rebellious teen to Rebelious Senator; follow the Superman-Smallville/Krypton and Batman-Gotham route and call it ‘Alderaan’. 😉
Maybe he’s got a good PR firm working for (or afraid of) him. After all, he was defeated by a blind (although admittedly lucky) man with a stick. And even if he does somehow escape being digested, he never got revenge on said blind man. It took that blind man’s son (and an ending contract) to finish that job. So, yeah, way overrated. Plus the books are no longer deemed canon.
It’s funny how in Legends after he escaped Sarlacc pit he returned every year to shoot at that thing from orbit.
Probably want to start knocking the budget of these things down a little. Because the rate of return seems to be dropping with each squeeze of the stone.
Gee, he’s got a Sten gun.
sounds great hopefully not a bladerunner in space rip-off.
I have a very bad feeling about that… all those spin offs… I fear it’ll delude the lore somewhat…
I feel the quality of the movies is in steady decline since “The Force Awakens” which was quite fine.
I hardly get exited about anything Stwars anymore.
I don’t know about that Rogue One was great, I think that maybe they should not release 2 movies a year. They are starting to loose their draw as a big event mostly, if you barely have to wait for a new Star Wars they somehow lose their epic feel, and become commonplace. Star Wars is like Pizza though, even bad Star Wars is still Star Wars and I won’t turn it down. I am only upset that this is all happening when I am 42 and not when I was 12 when I would have been far more excited… Read more »

Maybe this will be delayed since the Solo movie has bombed.
Man am i hyped for a Boba Fett movie, Bad ass and cool since 1980.
The obvious window into the world of the bounty hunters and why wouldn’t you. don’t understand the criticism over using these incredible characters in STAR WARS movies. Seeing Boba Fett get his Vader Rogue One moment is going to be nuts.
by the way, loved Solo.
To me one of the advantages that Boba Fett has over Solo is lack of story that he has to be shoehorned into. The problem I had with the movie Solo was that if felt like a check list. Yup got that, yup met up with him, etc. It was all because we knew too much about him. While we know some of the background of Boba Fett there is a lot that could be explored.
Rogue One is pretty much the only decent Star Wars film Disney have released because it had some things none of the others have had; Originality and Interesting Characters. Rogue One had a complete set of new characters, heroes, anti-heroes and villains alike and they were all interesting to watch. Conversely the continuation trilogy films are just garbage. The plots have more holes than a colander, the new characters are flat and the old characters are embarrassing. The less said about them the better. Solo is simply not a story I was ever really interested in and Boba Fett falls… Read more »
