Since the First and Twelfth Doctors have similar color schemes I thought I’d paint them first. The Twelfth Doctor should be especially easy since his outfit is mostly black. I started with black primer and a quick dry-brush of mid grey, followed by some white highlights.

My original plan was to use the speed-painting technique Romain demonstrated in a recent video. The idea was to get the basic tones down in black, grey and white, and then use thinned paint over that to add color. I found myself struggling with that for the skin tones here, so I ended up just painting his face and hands and adding a light wash to bring the details back out.

It's hard to see in this photo, but I did do the red lining of his jacket, even though it won't be visible when the mini is on the table. It's hard to see in this photo, but I did do the red lining of his jacket, even though it won't be visible when the mini is on the table.

I decided to paint the First Doctor in monochrome, since the photo on his character card in the game is from a black and white episode. I chose not to spend time on the check trousers — although the mini does have a bit of the checkered pattern as a texture, I wasn’t able to really bring it out. I’ll save my energy for the eventual Sixth Doctor figure…
