Plenty Of 40k Video Games On The Horizon!
December 6, 2013 by brennon
We’ve got some more 40k video game news! Firstly there is Storm of Vengeance, which is set to be a MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena). League of Legends is probably the most popular example of this sort of game. It will feature Dark Angels (only 100 apparently, limited respawns perhaps?) VS Orks. It is being developed by Eutechnyx who are most famous for their Nascar games but also created the hugely unpopular Ride to Hell: Retribution. This will either be really good or really bad, only time will tell.
Next up is some game play for Space Wolf (see video above). It appears to be that you play a card to get your characters to complete actions. Whether you can get the card back to play in another turn or if you discard it to draw another as well as whether you can build your own decks or not is still unclear. It’s certainly not looking bad for a mobile game.

Not even remotely interested.
These look and sound rubbish. Only thing I think GW should do outside of their wargaming activity is sanction a live action movie of THE HORUS HERESY using established stars and some of the wrestlers from WWE. Jim Caviezel as The Emperor, WWE’s Kane as Horus Luerpcal, etc.
American wrestlers playing the parts in a Horus Heresy movie would be utter cack. At least the Ultramarine’s movie had decent actors.
This game does look a bit simple in it’s design, but that might be to do with it being a mobile game, as the post suggests.
I’m of the opinion that Space Wolf isn’t too bad – for what it is. The other game sounds like it’s been fobbed off to some random ass company with no good track record. Doesn’t do much for the brand. The only game I see on the horizon that is going to be any good is Eternal Crusade and possibly Death Angel if they get the atmosphere right for a FPS version of Space Hulk. What I REALLY don’t get is why they decided to not consider going back down the line with Space Marine and finding another studio, or… Read more »
Space Marine sold 1.2 million units, which for THQ was disappointing, then what with the 40k mmo being developed they side lined the sequel, then THQ folded. The license has been picked up by Bioware and they are concentrating on getting Dark Millenium released, then who knows, we might see a space marine sequel.
Shame – Space Marine was a great game.
So is there some type of rule that says 40k games have to look like absolute junk? A game like this should use the cryengine or something similiar.
Meh… Eternal Crusade is far more interesting than this. I don’t think that Dark Millenium will be released as a MMO, i hope Bioware do something similar to what they did with Mass Effect or Dragon Age, so rather than being just combat it will have a lot more talking, decision making and lore involved in it.
If the Space Wolf comes out as a module/tablet game than it doesn’t look that bad.
And if it has the game set of Metal Gear Acid it could really be fun.
Regarding the rest I’m not interested after Dawn of War & Space Marine literally died out.
A Spacewolf game without real Spacewolves, these are just Ultramarines trying to be Spacewolves.
Not interested. I can’t paint a video game.
You can if you paint the disc…
Storm of Vengeance isn’t a MOBA; it’s going to be a tower defense game.

Personally, I don’t see anything wrong in giving out the license to loads to make the games and seeing what works and what doesn’t. It’s probably the only way you’re going to see Specialist games continue; would anybody like to see an X-com-esque game of Necromunda? Or a Battlefleet gothic game?
Battefleet Gothic, now that’s a game id like see done.
Xcom style Necromunda would be intriguing.
Indeed deaddave, that would get me interested in the 40k universe again. (if it were done right)
Yes. I’d like them to come out with another Battlefleet Gothic, and possibly a movie, but I just think that the 40K universe is too large for a movie. And if they did Horus Heresy: The Movie there may just be loads of people saying ‘can’t be bothered watching this. It’s all Space Marines’.
That game in the trailer looks in a word ‘pants’
Sorry but with the standard of games coming out, especially with the release of new consoles makes this pointless
Until someone takes up the standard that THQ / relic did with space marine and DOW, then most of them are just worth it.
Hell, I’d even take an HD remake of Fire Warrior than either of these.
Aside from maybe the 20,000 or so fans of GW who else even knows enough about the Horus Heresy to be remotely interested in a movie? I have $1000 tied up in the game but the minute I step into that theater it is no longer what I envision but what some producer thought of which is going to be garbage. Quite frankly there is a reason why the dungeon and dragon movies were terrible, why lord of the rings is so ridiculously long (although it was at least decent), and why great books never turn into great movies (with… Read more »
