Defend Your Downed Sci-Fi Ship With Blotz’s New Terrain
May 18, 2018 by brennon
Blotz is a terrain maker which I hadn't heard about until today. But, they drew my attention with this new terrain for your Sci-Fi games. Maybe you'd find a place for this on a Star Wars: Legion table?
The terrain collection comes in MDF and works with the scale of games like the aforementioned Star Wars: Legion. However, the crashed ship could also work in plenty of other games like Infinity and Beyond The Gates Of Antares. The terrain already helps build a narrative, asking one of you to defend the wreckage whilst the other is pilfering it for resources and information.
As well as the Barricades section we saw above we also had this larger Engine section as well. A nice set of blocking terrain for sure, and potentially a focal point for an attack. You also have the large Hatch section of the ship which could be used to create a larger entry into the interior of the ship.
Some very cool terrain indeed and it's worth checking out more of the range too as they have terrain for a lot of different settings on offer.
What do you make of this wrecked ship?
Blotz have been around for years but have managed to stay under most people’s radar until now. I reckon with another small set (of horizontal panels) to create difficult terrain rather than cover, and one larger set like the hatch section, there would be enough variety to fill a 3×3 board with just this terrain and the occasion crate! 😀
With the return of Adeptus Titanicus getting people excited about 6-10mm games again, I think this would look great in games of that scale too. From the pics I can’t see anything about these pieces that screams that they *have* to be 25-28mm exclusively so I see no reason why they couldn’t work for AT, Epic, etc, especially as in 40k you have multi-mile long space ships so these wouldn’t be too big to be a ship in that setting. 😉
“….games like Infinity and Beyond” . . . I see what you did there.
That said. the terrain does look good. might see about nabbing a few to expand my sci fi terrain.
Good looking ship sections will work well for StarWars I think.
I have some Blotz terrain for Dropzone Commander. Good quality stuff and very reasonably priced. These look good as well.
I like the first two, but I’m not sold on the last one.The exposed lattice looks more like garden fencing to me.
Just finishing off the Multiverse wreck terrain, and these would offer some complementary terrain of a different size.
Wow. These folks make some awesome terrain!
These look really cool. I don’t play Legion, but I’ll check them out on their website.
I’ve got a whole load of their 10mm terrain for Dropzone Commander and it’s excellent. Not the most detailed terrain on the market, but very reasonably priced and it looks great. Easily customisable too.
Yes, it been a stable DzC go to for me too – and a large part of the DzC community -in 10 mm
And with 2.0 the embedded images in the article does not seem to show up for me at least
Same with me.
