First Glimpse Of PlayFusion’s Age Of Sigmar Champions At WarhammerFest
May 16, 2018 by brennon
PlayFusion were at WarhammerFest this weekend and shared on Twitter a few new morsels of information Age Of Sigmar Champions, their new card game in conjunction with Games Workshop.
It looks like the game will play out alongside the new core factions for the game with a Campaign Deck for Order and Death leading the way for the game.
As you're playing the game, which sees you bringing four heroes to the field, you will be looking to reduce your opponent's life counter to zero. The game looks to also feature some of the rotating card mechanics we've seen in Lightseekers, unlocking more possibilities for your deck as you play.
You can see the game being played out here (thanks to Louis Aguilar) from the event, showing a similar set up for the game to Lightseekers.
We can't wait to give this a go. Lightseekers is a big favourite in the studio and so it would be grand to see what PlayFusion have done with the Age Of Sigmar property.
Will you be checking this out?

I got a chance to play this at Warhammer Fest and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. You start out with 4 quests which you shuffle and place face down on the mat. Then you have 4 characters which again you place face down. Then when you both are ready to play you turn your characters face but still leave the quest cards face down until you achieve all the elements to turn them over. Next you draw your starting cards which we had 4 for the player going first and 5 for the second player. Each turn… Read more »
Thank you for the insight @chaingun
So is this TCG or LCG?
CCG @mecha82
@brennon Oh I see. Well maybe it will do better than any previous attempts back in day that were from Sabertooth Games.
CCG can be done well. Fantasy Flight Games has been doing a good job with Destiny and PlayFusion themselves with Lightseekers.
I hope they’ve done some good stuff with this one.
Sure there are plenty of good CCGs (I should know I play some of those) but so far Warhammer hasn’t had good track record with those. Which is why I said that maybe this one will do better but over all being successful in TCG/CCG market isn’t easy task unless you are one of big three (MtG, Pokémon TCG and YGO) since there are so many different once already.
