Footsore Preview The Northern Earls Edwin & Morcar For Their Saxon Range
May 2, 2018 by brennon
Footsore Miniatures has previewed some of the models coming up later in the year. They have been doing Vikings, working hard on Normans, and Anglo-Saxons are next on the roster. Here we have Edwin & Morcar, two character models for your army.
This pair came into the story of 1066 and the Viking/Normans invasions in 1065 when Tostig was ousted from his position in Northumbria. Tostig would go on to fight alongside King Harald Hardrada and at the Battle of Fulford, he would clash with Edwin & Morcar, the second of whom had been placed into his position when he had been sent packing.
Edwin & Morcar were subsequently defeated by the Vikings and then played no part in the Battle Of Hastings which sealed the fate of the Anglo Saxon world. They would raise up in opposition to the Normans and William The Conqueror but were soon quashed.
Edwin then met with quite a sticky end. As he was travelling North to Scotland he was betrayed by his bodyguards to the Normans and killed on the road. Not a nice way to go. Morcar too continued to rebel before submitting to the King and was eventually thrown in prison. However, despite being pardoned on William's deathbed he was eventually thrown BACK into prison and died there. Wonderful!
What do you think of these two nobles?

Those two look really good.
really nice to see Footsore bringing in new sculptors and expanding the ranges. Exciting times ahead.
Any idea who the new sculptors are?
those Saxons are from Matthew Bickley,
Paul Hicks and Steve Saleh have been doing Gangs of Rome.
Paul has also sculpted the new Norman range.
and they have released King Rædwald of East Anglia, in the Sutton Hoo helmet, sculpted by Stavros Zouliatis, but he’s actually been sculpting the new feudal japanese range for them.
