Snowtroopers Hunt Rebels Across Star Wars: Legion’s
April 26, 2018 by dracs
Fantasy Flight Games have a new Star Wars: Legion unit expansion for the Imperial forces up for pre-order. When the Rebels try to hide on frozen planets, the Snowtroopers will be hot on their heels.
The Snowtroopers are an iconic part of the Imperial army, with their intimidating faceless helmets and flowing white armour, they look sinister even by the standards of Stormtroopers.
Snowtroopers offer Imperial generals with an alternative core troops choice. As well as their different, environmental equipment, the Snowtroopers have been trained differently, allowing them to fire on the move.
The expansion also gives you two new heavy weapon options. The T-7 Ion Trooper can crack through the armour of enemy vehicles, while the Flametrooper helps to catch the enemy behind their cover.
The Snowtroopers were one of the most evocative Imperial forces to appear in the original movies. It's especially cool to see them brought into the game. Time for some full-on Hoth battles!
Let us know what you think of the Snowtroopers in the comments below.

I’m planning to paint a unit ( or two ) of these as Galactic Marines 🙂 .
Yesssss more glorious troopers to destroy the galactic terrorists!
Love them.
I do like these sculpts but I’m not sure whether Im going to be picking them up as they don’t fit into my imperial force. I’ve gone very Endor themed with mine, going to have to have a think
You could justify it by saying you’re fighting on the one planet in the galaxy that isn’t mono-climate and that you’ve had to call in from reinforcements from a regiment stationed at one of the poles who haven’t had time to change out of their snow gear during redeployment. Alternatively, unless they’ve got special rules that are snow based, paint them in a forrest-camp scheme and say they’re some sort of special forces unit (or if you meant you’re theming for Endor itself, say the reason the others are in white is because there wasn’t enough camp gear to go… Read more »
they have special rules that their armour is tougher giving them a vader like movement and relentless. No reason for them to be solely snow based though. I think they’d camo up lovely
Those are very nice.
I like the idea of painting them camo but stormtroopers were white since they don’t hide, they attack.
Death troopers same, they just walk in combat.
This is not eady, not sure I want to paint a unit csmo just for show.
Just checked Wookieepedia and Stormtroopers do use camo – http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Imperial_Stormtrooper_Forest_Camouflage_Armor (although in this case it’s regular armour in a camo scheme). There’s also a scout variant in the same scheme, plus ‘Swamptroopers’ that wear green – http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Wetland_assault_stormtrooper – so I think painting units in camo is justified. 😉
I like these, but won’t be getting them for desert force. Will wait til I see more desert friendly options.
Isn’t that pretty much regular Stormtrooper armour with a pauldron added? 😉
It’s not supported by cannon, but I could see the snowtrooper style being able to be made to work for desert troops; have the mask and coat be Bedouin style robes and the different style armour to the regular style armour be because it has cooling systems built in rather than the heating/insulation systems of the snowtroopers. 😉
I’d rather stay thematic, on that basis its not a great choice of second troop. Desert is most units to be honest, just not artic ones. Hoping the 1st May gives a view of whats coming, enjoying the game but I think they need to up releases until each faction has 2-3 options for each slot.
I’m amused that snowtroopers have less white (they’re covered in dirt) on them than regular stormtroopers. And where did they find all that dirt anyway? They’re in an area buried in snow. You’d think they were a bunch of six year olds left to run free for a moment. 😉
yellow snow …
They are obviously veteran troops that seen combat.. and c@#%¢ their pants.. 🙂
Either that or their non-armour clothing is made from a plastisteel weave and they’ve spent too much time out in direct sunlight.
