Van Saar & Man’s Best Friend Take Over The Underhive In Necromunda Soon
April 25, 2018 by brennon
The gang war is hotting up down in the Underhive as Games Workshop adds another gang into the mix this weekend. Necromunda sees the Van Saar making an appearance with their high tech weaponry that wouldn't be out of place in a world like Infinity.
Away from Escher, I think that Van Saar is the gang that has appealed to me the most. I think it's because they look entirely different from what you would have expected from a Necromunda gang. Once again, you'll find all manner of cool options thrown into the mix for you in their plastic kit and no doubt Forge World will be supplying upgrades soon too.
Of course, this also means a new Gangs War Supplement. You will find new rules included within its pages giving you additional options for all gangs, not just Van Saar.
For example, they have mentioned that you're going to get some brutish fellows to play around with like the Ambot and a wealth of new weapon choices.
Man's Best Friend
Forge World will also be getting in on the action when it comes to Necromunda as they have a new model pack on the horizon, Slate Merdena & Macula from House Orlock.
Rules for this fellow will be included in Gang War III and you'll find that this Hired Gun, and his hired teeth, will be quite the addition to your roster. Who wouldn't want that brutal looking pooch on their side in the tight confines of the Underhive?
Do you like the new Van Saar set?

That Cyber Mastiff is the dogs b****cks….best hound sculpt I’ve seen in a while and the pair job is fantastic….hope they have it on sale at Warhammer fest!
I really like those Van Saar. Slate and Macula are really nice looking pair.
Outstanding 😮
Yup need these!
The Van Saar are my gang from back in the day 😀 , these are simply must have for me 🙂 .
While the Van Saar are nice minis, they don’t fit my feel of Van Saar I like the Freman aesthetic, these seem a bit infinity for me and I would probably pick up infinity minis instead.
However, these bits like the hounds and some of the guilder concepts I have seen are tempting addons for my 28 mm inquisitor collection.
I’ll stick with Orlocks (first box coming along nicely) so no van Saar for me. I’ll pick up the book and the FW lovelies though.
I might be coming round to Necromunda with these recent miniatures. I think Necromunda could do with more female miniatures for all the gangs, except Escher and maybe Goliath. It’s good to have the hyper-masculine and hyper-(slightly butch-)feminine gangs, but outside that let’s have some female Van Saar, Delaque and so on.
@totsuzenheni I’d like all of the gangs have a mix of genders. I like the new Goliath sculpts (can’t say that about many of the originals), and the new Escher are cool too (although I did like the originals). But you’re right, it would be good to see women in all of the gangs. And even Escher, while having a feminist punk gang is kind of cool, the game undermines it a bit by having them be the only women meaning they are defined only – or at least mostly – by their gender. You can’t say that about the… Read more »
Yup, 2 ladies present in Van Saar pic and a gang per gender, ‘possibly’ defined by their genders ie. Escher and Goliath. Let’s call it disaster averted 🙂
I’ll be getting the van Saar as ad mech stooges for sure, I really like the aesthetic change especially if all can have the masks.
The dog is an incredible sculpt! Really taken by it.
….. there are two female Van Saar in the picture…. *confused???
True but there’s room for female Orlocks, Delaques etc.
I’m glad that there are two female gang members here ( or one with two variant heads ) and, given that that leaves us with one in five Van Saar gang fighters and one in ten non-Goliath non Escher gang fighters female, i’d like to see more. I’m not looking for 50/50 representation, just some variation and ‘realism’ ( as it were ). I also like the fact that, aside from the somewhat unnecessarily ‘boob’ shaped armour bras, they are not hyper feminised, nor steriotyped in order to make them immediately obviously female. I’d like to see more of that.… Read more »
It’s hard to see in the picture but it may be that there are two female Van Saar in the upper right of the pic.
I may get these, but it will be a bit later. I’m going to keep my focus on my Eschers for a while yet.
Having the 3rd supplement book —- at $49 a go —- out since Christmas is a bit out of step with the casual gaming option that Necromunda provides.
I know it is optional and all, and I really like the beautiful minis and gameplay, but it puts me off a bit. Not just the cost but also the vibe of it.
nice.
Very nice. Would be good as near future villains in other games as well. Hopefully I’m not going to choke on the price.
Defintely on the buy list. Necromunda releases (both GW & FW) have totallyflaoted my boat so far. So much for just getting one gang together; looks like will be collecting the lot. The hired guns 3 pack are on the desk at the mo. So far the only one that hasnt appealed to me and probably wont bother with is the squat. Never much liked squats back in the day and Stumpy MacStumperson hasnt done anything to change my mind. All the rest of the stuffs though………. yes please 🙂
