Dark Hammer’s Asian Undead Rise from IndieGoGo
November 17, 2013 by dracs
Dark Hammer Miniatures are seeking to bring the Japanese style undead of their Undead Regiment to lurching life with the help of the mystical powers of IndieGoGo.
The IndieGoGo features a host of imaginative concepts and miniature designs which Dark Hammer hope to make a reality.
Each of these designs shows a nice level of creative imagination and, if the miniatures get funded and made, they would allow you to create a pretty awesome Undead army for fantasy games. After all, even Warhammer Fantasy has a far east and what's to say the Necromancers of the world haven't tried their hand at magic there?
If you fancy giving these corpses life head to IndieGoGo and pledge your support.
Do I need these minis? No I do not. Would I use these minis? Probably not. Is oriental undead right up my street? I think it lives next door. To back or not to back? Hmmmm…..
The 100$ perk gives you so many miniatures, I wonder how it’s possible…
The guy/girl is based in China (Sanya is on an island off the south coast) so maybe it’s possible life is cheap over there… could be a design / art student who likes GW and thinks he can do it to.
His/her concept art is very good.
China is where western companies go to make cheap minis. It must be even cheaper if you’re already based there. Three of the minis are already made and if the artwork is anything to go by the units will be duplicates.
They’re not a completely new company either, the samurai horseman has been available from Wayland for a little while now.
Remember the $35 shipping.
Bloodlust Tyrant looks like it would convert nicely into a Pit Lord from WoW.
Must resist Japanese Vampire army….
I have a copy of the Many Hand Monk, and the Undead Samurai. They are wonderful mini’s
I like that Cannon Chariot. 😀 Very original.
That’s some nice model ideas. I could see myself backing this.
Looks like relatively complex assembly, at least the one they had in pieces on their website.
Look nice, but there’s just too much stuff and quite frankly I don’t think this is the best time to put these out: What little cash I have left is reserved for Xmas.
In general, I feel this bubble must burst at some point. Even if people are not crushed under the mountain of unpainted minis, at least I can’t maintain constant expenditure on Kickstarters…
These minis are really awesome but the comment has been made before- the market is saturated with people who ahve just invested in minis or are currently investing. It really is a shame though as these are wonderfully made and very creative. Just a case of bad timing, otherwise I think this would be taking off like crazy.
I don’t think it would. It’s a great deal and the minis are nice. On the other hand, it’s a company with a very low profile, on Indiegogo rather than KS, there’s no game yet for the minis, no pre-existing fanbase to tap into, very little product on the market, and very little build up to the launch. Successful crowdfunders are as much about marketing as product.
And while I did think about it I won’t go for it unless it get close to or over the 25000 due to :
Flexible Funding – This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal
but else where on the front page
Official announcement : We will not use the fund to go on production if the goal $25000 is not met
I am sorry but I’ll gamble with those that will not take the cash if they don’t reach the goal but ….
This would very easily make a great Undead Army for Kings of War. Too bad I’ve got no one around here who would want to get into KoW or I’d back this in a heart beat!
