Deep-Cut Show Off Official Pacific Rim: Extinction Game Mat Design
April 5, 2018 by brennon
Pacific Rim: Extinction from River Horse Games is now done on Kickstarter but Deep-Cut Studio then announced that they would be making the Official Game Mat for you to use when it arrives on your doorstep!
The massive mat shows a big ruined cityscape for you to fight through. This, of course, has been made useful for gameplay and works as a nice backdrop for your battles between the Kaiju and Jaegers.
There are plenty of little details worked into the mat as well which is always nice to see. Deep-Cut does some fantastic stuff with the narrative building on their mats, even when they're not as covered on wild mayhem as this.
So, if you backed the campaign you now have a great looking mat that you can replace the poster design with when the game comes out. Additionally, depending on the scaling of everything this could be useful for other games as well.
What do you think of the mat design?
"Additionally, depending on the scaling of everything this could be useful for other games as well..."
wow, cool mat! do you think they’ll be willing to resize it to a different scale? Be great for Dropzone commander if they could scale it up a bit
I’m not sure if it needs a different scale, but I do think it looks like something that would be great for Dropzone commander.
Ooh a great city mate.
Ha ha @bigdave and @limburger – my thoughts exactly. It would be a great mat to play DZC on – a different look and non right-angled streets!
Is this the same Deep Cut that have been doing the cheap minis for D&D and Pathfinder?
