Getting A Closer Look At Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game
March 30, 2018 by brennon
Street Fighter: The Miniatures Game, is coming to Kickstarter on April 4th! Next week is going to be a big step for Jasco Games and Joe Vargas (Angry Joe) as they bring this mammoth project to the fundraising platform.
The game itself has gone through extensive playtesting and it seems like it's now at a place where you'll be able to live out some awesome clashes on the tabletop. This is all alongside an amazing range of miniatures.
- Play Street Fighter®™ like never before! Play in Versus Mode as well as Free For All and Team Modes for up to six players!
- Boss Mode offers three versus one Cooperative Play against one powerful Boss Player!
- High quality pre-painted "Collector-Sized" miniatures with breath-taking special effects sculpts!
- Stage maps with 3D destructible terrain inspired straight from the video games!
- 40-Card Character Battle Decks split into Projectiles, Specials, Strikes and Event cards!
- An Innovative combo chain attack system rewards smart play and hand management!
- Use powerful super & ultra combos for impressive finishes!
- Cross compatible with future Universal Tactics System sets. Create your dream scenarios for some truly legendary fights!
Talking of miniatures, here's a look at just some of the designs which will be coming your way.
As you'll have maybe seen in the video above from Joe Vargas, the game is serious about the bells and whistles. The miniatures are pretty big (Amiibo sized!) and come pre-painted so you just play straight out of the box.
From what we've heard in the press announcement the idea of multiple game modes is very interesting. I like that this is going beyond the one versus one stance and offering up more for tabletop gamers. All of your favourite characters are going to be in the mix too and here's a rundown of just some of the designs.
Ryu
Ken
Chun Li
Zangief
I remember watching the Animated Movie and loving the way they dealt with the different characters in that. One could imagine that Bison is going to be one of those characters that could work as a boss encounter!
Bison
Akuma
Sagat
Vega
Vega was definitely one of my favourites from the game! We shall be waiting to see some awesome gameplay videos when the Kickstarter goes live so we can explore how it works in more detail.
I'm looking forward to actually being able to play this game because my thumbs just aren't good enough to play it on console!

Looks very nice. I wish that they eventually add Cammy, Sakura, Karin, Juri, R. Mika and Elena as well.
awesome
More a Mortal Kombat fan myself, but I really like the look of this.
KS only is a bit of a turnoff though.
I was very sceptical about this game, and don’t particularly want the figures on display around the house because the design looks a bit tacky, however Angry Joe’s passionate sales pitch has really won me over. I am up for trying the game, and perhaps the colour scheme could be a new painting challenge, with a new style to try and new techniques to master!
Ooh may be worth getting just to remanis the consul barnies years back.
console not consul.
I’m waiting to see what they make out of Blanka.
So what buttons do I press in this game for the cheat codes ? 😉
I’m kind of sceptical of Capcom allowing them to do this.
As such I wonder what kind of monkey wrenches Capcom is going to throw at them before release. I hope these minis have already been signed off, so that is not going to cause any issues.
It is definitely cool to see fighting games make it to the tabletop, because I don’t have the reflexes and muscle memory to reliably perform even a single move these characters can do in the video games..
There’s a Capcom logo on the box. Therefor it’s very likely that he has the license… and one would be mad if he tries to make such a big thing without any permission from the IP owners.
According to his self proclaimed title he’s angry at the least … 😉
But I imagine limburger is talking about certain limitations and requirements they might impose on this project.
BTW @limburger, are you talking about attempting the acrobatics in the video game in real life? That’s a very high bar I’d say. ^^
Remember Alien vs Predator ? That game got a ton of delay because the IP holders had to sign off on everything. The ‘Evil Dead’ boardgame also had to suffer through such a process. Getting approval even after you’ve got the official license can be a horribly slow process. And if you’ve seen how Capcom treated its own release of Streetfighter on consoles … (details : http://www.thejimquisition.com/street-fighter-v-review/ ) Let’s just say that I fear for the delays and additional demands that Capcom is going to cause for this project. @darnast : lol … me and real acrobatics ? not going… Read more »
Love the miniatures, be worth it just to have them on the display shelf.
…I need to get a display shelf…
I’d be sorely tempted if the minis were 28mm scale. Gotta be useful in many a game for me, at this point. Probably a good thing tho, as it saves me a ton of money!
Blaster was here… & just finished up goin All-In on Batman: Gotham City Chronicles!
i really love these minis, i just wish more minis were this size.
