Workhouse Games Reveal Upgraded Miniatures For The Awful Orphanage!
March 15, 2018 by brennon
Workhouse Games, the folks behind The Awful Orphanage, are not far off launching their Kickstarter which hits March 22nd! Being so close to launch they wanted to show us something special, the upgraded miniatures that will be present in the game...
We turned to the team to tell us a bit more about what they've been doing behind the scenes...
Ladies and Gentlemen - may we beg your indulgence for a short while as we present to you - for your delight and delectation - our revised, improved and enhanced figures for inclusion in our mildly evil parlour game - The Awful Orphanage.
We took advice from a highly talented and very experienced figure sculptor who has extensive knowledge of how to make single piece figures for games. On the basis of the advice we received and the re-worked design for one of our figures, we decided to have all of our figures redesigned for a number of reasons.
To begin with, the original proposals would have been difficult to produce as one piece figures - obviously, it was essential that the game should be playable straight from the box - other than pressing out the tiles and tokens. Secondly, the new figures incorporated more detail but would also be stronger and able to stand up to repeated use during your games.
Finally, we loved the look of the new designs - whether you enjoy painting miniature figures or whether you just want to play your games using aesthetically pleasing components, we felt that the new figures were a big improvement on the originals.
Therefore, without further ado - lights! Drumroll! Curtains! Tadaaaaaaa!
I think you'll agree that the new versions of these models are looking perfect for board games. I particularly liked the improvement to The Gaunt & Sinister Man and The Twins, although this new take on Alyce was a nice surprise too.
You can actually check out the old version of Alyce HERE where we were discussing the preview of the model. As a reminder, you can also get your hands on Alyce FOR FREE to everyone if they are able to reach their funding goal during the first 24 Hours of the Kickstarter campaign which launches next week.

Looking great, was good before but this is a massive improvement. This improvement is the sort of thing that may have been used as a stretch goal by others, but not here.
Looking forward to the start of this.
Count me in. My “no more Kickstarters” NY resolution was never going to last.
