The Samurai Armies Grow In New Footsore/War Banner Previews
March 14, 2018 by brennon
Footsore Miniatures & the War Banner Facebook Page have been showing off more of the upcoming Samurai models that will be gracing the tabletop as part of the Warring Clans range.
We saw this rather splendid looking painted example a while back, showing off a stalwart Samurai ready to get stuck into the action. Since then they have been working on various Ashigaru models, some with the standard spears you'd imagine from rank and file models.
Others are armed with teppo, the firearms of the time. Teppo is the Japanese term for an arquebuse or matchlock rifle that would have been introduced to Japan by the Europeans.
The range is looking rather good, especially when you see them gathered together like this. Footsore has always produced some great sculpts which act as a high standard for Historical wargaming and it's nice to see them branching out beyond the Dark Ages and such into other facets of history.
Of course, they already have plenty of models for 20th Century gaming too, but this is a nice change of aesthetic for them. One assumes it's going to be as wide-ranging and dynamic as their Gangs Of Rome collection too.
What do you think?

Not a setting I plan to collect (ok it’s on the list but the list is crazy long) but by eck they look nice.
I do like a good Ashigaru model, so I will definitely be adding these to my samurai clans.
I am looking forward to these. I hear that there will be 40 in the first wave and if all goes well more will be produced.
news to my ears
nice.
