@warzan I hear you – I’m still waiting for the day I can turn around to my kids and say “She’s YOUR mother, YOU take care of Mothers Day!”
Looks like a good solution. I think the first level above the work bench needs to be sufficiently high that you can work without being crowded by the stuff above you. Also lighting might be an issue with the shelves above you as you work.
Yup you would ideally want about 3′ of distance between tabletop and first shelf, lighting shouldnt be a problem with some led strip
Looking good, few suggestions (of doom) for the workbench of doom. 1) possibly consider adding some piano hinges to make a few double depth work areas, so you can fold out additional depth, or just so that @lloyd can pretend he has a massive train layout and is standing in the middle of it 😀 (assuming you keep the tables where they are) 2) you will want some legs otherwise its possible to bounce one end of the worksurface out of the twinslot 3) once the work surface is down, screw a peice of wood to the track to clamp… Read more »
Firstly, a big hello to my friend @eldarveteran 😀 , see you at club Saturday 🙂 .
Secondly, i’m built to knock things down rather than build them up, so i consider all the advice of @nakchak as good ( especially after seeing the video @eldarveteran put up ).
good advice from nakchak, otherwise…

Workbench sounds awesome!
I wanna move in now 😉
I have a suggestion based on how to organize your stuff, once the WoD is complete. Organize the shelf levels based on how much you are going to use the stuff on that shelf. Top shelf: Stuff you are holding onto but may never actually use again. Next shelf down: The stuff you use once a year/once every 6 months. Next shelf down: The stuff you might use every month/week. Last shelf above the work bench: Stuff that you use all the time/daily and the stuff to be worked on, on the work bench. If you organize it right from… Read more »
Be careful when adding too many sockets to a wall plug. There probably is a maximum that is both legal and safe. A quick check according to Dutch rules 220 V AC with 16 Ampere rated fuse => 3500 Watts max (or else that fuse says *poof*). 3500 / 150 (assumed rating of a single wall socket) = +/- 23 wall sockets per electrical group assuming nothing else is used. It will depend on how many electrical groups your studio location has and wether or the UK regulations are similar. You may want to consult a local electrician for details.… Read more »
I thought you just kept adding plugs till the fuses blew then took one out and reset the fuse box . But I’m not a professional electrician
A knife also works for the older/better fuse boxes.
Only if you’ve run out of tin foil
a bit of copperwire works too … 😉
Should work well you could colour the shelving like DefCon bunkers?
bugger tools at boot camps it will be useful to charge our phones…lol
and yes lighting is very important, if that can be enhanced on the work bench that would be very useful:-)
The first shelf row above the “work” level could be shallow rather than high. In fact I’d put a few quarter depth shelves above the work area then resume full shelves higher up. This would make use of the space and provide extra project storage for the work area. For tools, paint, or just a place to put things while the glue/paint dries.
I love these kind of VLOGs
Hi guys, loving the ideas but a word of caution with the work bench, everyone will want to lean on it, just like you both leant on the brackets during the Vlog. Follow Nakchak’s advice and fix legs @2m apart to support the worktop breakfast bar legs look great but would need cutting down (as they are usually @870mm high) but can be a bit expensive. The LED lighting is a cracking idea but again don’t over use extension leads, if you can afford it get a sparky to run you a new ring main in a power bar trunking… Read more »
Definitely add a few ethernet connections when you’re doing that… and when possible add a few USB power sockets as well.
My kid made mother’s day memorable without my help – he had the squits!!
I’m sure “erection of doom” used to be available on pay per view…
If you get rid of all the boxes full of Justin’s hair, there’ll be plenty of room for everything 😉
I was waiting for someone to shout “There’s a guy called Doom outside who wants all his stuff back!”
Glad to hear your helping @dignity to get wood! He need all the help he can get.
The wall of doom is looking grand.
XD
It may be that I shall never forget you said that.
if you are putting draws underneath make sure you enough for someone knee to fit under the desk as well
Great graphics / animations in the video. When I first saw the title card in front page I let out a groan … Oh God, is someone releasing another shake-n-bake Kickstarter tabletop game based on Doom? 😐
Best of luck with the reorg project! It’ll be a lot of work, but I’m sure it will be worth it. 😀
I got inspired by BoW and bought some black plastic shelving… except mine were not the same thing and they warped very easily with a KD: Monster box on top! Back-to-the-drawing-board.
Wood to help with the erection… of Doom? I see that someone recommended LED lighting… of Doom. I have 2 that chain and it helps a bunch because the shelves impact available lighting. With the low power draw, you should be able to get more than few together.
