Dwarves Clash With Orks In New Confrontation Classic Previews
March 13, 2018 by brennon
The Confrontation Classic collection continues to impress as Sans-Detour revealed two factions which inherently seem to hate each other! For example, here we have this selection of Orks.
Now that is an awesome selection of snarling barbarian folk. I really like the chap on the right-hand side, near the top of the image with that wooden mallet. I think the work on his skin and muscles is awesome and gives him a great tribal look. The Shamanistic fellow to the bottom left also looks like he would be very fun to paint.
Arrayed against them we have this selection of Dwarves from Tir-Na-Bor.
The models have a distinctive style to them, very much doubling down on the idea of them being squat and devoid of knees. I'm not sure I like the 'big head' style of the models, but they are very stylish that's for sure.
What do you think of these new previews?

Why would they mix the older and later models and why lots of units with only one model each? I’m not happy they threw together both Orc factions: the Orcs of the Behemoth (the ones in the Tibetean / Nepalese inspired garb, basically the left half of the pic) and the Orcs of Bran-O-Kor (mostly older sculpts and in a more common look for orcs). Gradually acceptable by the background, I reckon, but I was hoping for more / other units and sculpts for either group. @brennon if you’re interested in the original model range look here for example: http://underthemountainblog.com/athenaeum/aarklash-archive/factions/… Read more »
Also, @brennon I do see knees on every one of the dwarves except the two with axes and that’s due to a fist, axeblade and a padded skirt being in the way. 😉 Sure, they have an uncomfy big heads look, but that’s just this specific comic style Rackham chose for Confrontation. There’s no Confro without the cool but goofy comic parts. Just look at all the odd stances, the crazy faces, the quirky details, strange proportions. It seems to me that, sadly, people often don’t recognize that the essence of Confro was weird and dark fun, almost gallows humour.… Read more »
nice & the Orks look brilliant.
Sorry, but the dwarf in the front row with the sword and bard looks constipated.
board, not bard.
Im really digging this. I like the kinda fugly dwarves. Dwarves shouldn’t be winning beauty contests! You can really see where AoS got the Overlord Dwarves from can’t you?
Im loving the orks. I want these. The one line I missed not getting some models of. So characterful, and quite frankly, orky.
The orcs look nice. I like those gritty faces. The dwarves have too big heads for my taste.
I hope the kickstarter will be a success. It’s never bad having a successfull tabletop game! 🙂
