GW Bring New Magazine Subscription Service To 40K
March 5, 2018 by stvitusdancern
With all of the different subscription services available for gamers, it was just a matter of time that GW (Games Workshop) would jump back in.
If you remember some years back they had a subscription service Battle Games for Lord of the Rings. Now they are back in with Warhammer 40k Conquest and have teamed up with Hachette Partworks to administer the service. I have to say I am rather impressed with the information so far.
They have previewed the first four issues and the items that you will receive with them are really nice from Space Marines, Death Guard Marines along with paints and brushes. There will be other accessories included as well.
As of now it is only available in the UK (Boo) and there are eighty issues planned. Why not hop on over and take a look for yourself and see if this is something you would like.
It's looking like another interesting way to get into the hobby...

Has anyone figured out when this starts????? Going to pick up half a dozen of the first print so I’ve got plenty of models for my 3 year old to paint.
ooh shinny shinny.
and a dozen new organ donor clinics open to keep up with the extra demand?
I might be wrong but is that 3 easy build primaris marines with the first issue for £2? That seems like a bargain as they are £10 on the GW web site.
3 Easy-Build Primaris Intercessors, 3 Citadel Base paints and a Starter Paint Brush with the first issue, which is free if you subscribe, or £2 in a store.
I’d missed about the paints and brush, good call @roguestar, definitely going to try it. Tried to find it in the stores today but could find it anywhere.
Hopefully this service gets the desired amount of subscribers off the get go. We need this for us Americans! T_T
WHAT? and you get the paints too??
the “4 issues every 4 weeks” makes it a bit more expensive than I initially though if I am reading it right.
@johnlyons Yeah thats pretty much putting me off it, the intro price is £1.99, issue 2 is £4.99 and subsequent issues are £7.99, so first month is £22.96, interestingly the first 4 issues is the contents of the £25 first strike starter box from GW, so unless you really want the paints and brush included then you could shop about and find that starter box for for £18.75. Subsequent months are £31.96, which isnt bad assuming the following weeks freebies/cost price minis and paints are interesting and not just cultists, although i wonder if an assetdrop box subscription offers better… Read more »
So this comes out to roughly $11/week, or $44/month.
$528/year
If you are a Warhammer fan that is your thing given IMHO it is a lifestyle game, all the extras the are giving you over the course of the year it looks pretty good. If you are getting paints every week that is not a bad deal either. Interesting if they comes to the USA what it would be like.
do the numbers ppl, do the numbers, it is not as cheap as it seems.
Those subscription things never are when you total it all up. They get away with it by splitting the cost in time. No one would play any MMO if they had to pay 500$ upfront after all, but 15$ a month is way easier to swallow.
I subscribed for the first month at least. I am going to give up the 4 or 5 bottles of craft beer I would normally buy and drink during the week to fund it – my waist line will also appreciate it. The email I received says to allow 28 days for delivery of your first issue so it must be hitting the shelves soon.
I’ll be watching the shelves for Issues 1 & 2… Can’t miss a bargain!
Any idea when this releases? Checked a few shops and not seen it yet.
Could work as a good intro product, can’t see it equalling BGIME but a lot will depend on the marketting. Outside of first 2 can’t see it being buy for established hobbyists
Seems good but being only available in the UK is real bummer.
If anyone does see issue 1 on a shelf, give us a heads up!
Checked in Dublin stores today with no luck.
Is it even going to be available in Dublin? as it does say UK only
I would have subscribed to this if it was a fortnightly release. Weekly is a bit much considering other financial commitments! First couple of issues are worth picking up though, so if anyone spots them in the wild, a heads up would be greatly appreciated!
Definitely plan to pick up a few copies of issue 1 once it’s in WH Smith…
No interest in 40K but £1.99 for three paints is good enough value to pick number one up
Checked in with a GW staff member earlier and they advised it will not be in GW stores, probably a few weeks till release and to keep an eye on the Warhammer Community page.
I asked in Easons ( lNI version of WH Smith ) in Belfast and they said that they didnt think they would be getting it in until it was seen to be selling well in mainland UK
