Dark Age Set Up A Mighty Fight Between Fire & Stone
November 11, 2013 by brennon
Dark Age are setting up a pretty deadly fight between a mighty Kukulkani construct and a creature of pure elemental force. See what you think of the Greater Fire Elemental and Kukulkani Cabrakan from their Facebook page!
You can't tell unless they are next to other models but these are some pretty massive pieces of kit. The Crabakan in particular is their biggest model to date and looks like an amazing piece to have in your collection.
Of both of them though I actually prefer the Greater Fire Elemental. I think the painting that has gone into it as really bought it to life and you can imagine that lava style skin swirling and changing across his body.
The models are both brilliant looking additions to the Dark Age line-up and it's becoming hard not to try and pick up their models!
Which do you prefer?

Nice !
They’ve really upped their game…
Brennon. as far as I am aware there is no official UK importer for Darkage and the few that do stock them do not have either the full range or even a choice of minis released in the last 6 months. Hard not to try and pick up? I gave up trying. They lost an interested customer in me since they failed to support their product in the UK. I just see them as a poor mans Rackham in the case of product support. There are better systems with companies interested in supporting their customer base. Better to spend your… Read more »
I agree… It’s teh same for France, really.
However, a lot of the BoW viewership doesn’t live in the UK, and there’s always buying online.
I have a hard time getting into Dark Age. You got some really nice models like what you see above but then there are a whole mess of them that I just can’t bring myself to even mildly like. I know this is common among many model ranges (I like model X and Y but could go without Z) but Dark Age takes it to a new extreme for me. Seems like for every awesome mini I see in their range there are about ten that make me go “meh”. Maybe the style is just too weird for my tastes.
The most beautiful roses grow on filth, they say… I see what you mean, but a lot of companies that start out with a game and aren’t into the whole “limited edition quality resin” thing have to start out with less-than-perfect models. You’ll find that most of the inferior Dark Age miniatures are in fact old miniatures.
Just look at PP : they started out producing less than stellar figures for their D&D setting, and they still disappoint now and then.
Oh god old PP models…original Skarre sculpt *shudder*
I totally understand what you mean but I think it has more to do with the overall imagery of Dark Ages for me. There are models that I can tell are of great quality in terms of the sculpt but just, for whatever reason, don’t quite grasp my interest. So I suppose it is more of personal taste than quality which cannot be helped I’m afraid.
On an unrelated note any chance we’ll see you paint up a Bushido model in the future? 🙂
Ah, so many things to paint, so little time ! 🙂
I’ll see what’s in the tubes…
