Sneering Malfoy & Little Dobby Pop Up In Harry Potter Previews
March 2, 2018 by brennon
Lucius Malfoy popped up in one of the latest previews from Knight Models for their Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game.
He was also joined by the Dobby The House Elf, although he seems decidedly more determined here than you might have imagined in the face of Malfoy. They have captured the sneer on Malfoy's face very well in his model here and I think it would be safe to say that Knight Models have more or less got it right when it comes to the miniatures for this game.
We will have to see how the game plays and hopefully, we'll get a look at some videos explaining all that before the Kickstarter launches.
It's going to be tough as it will have to cater to those who have probably never played a tabletop miniatures game before, drawn here just for the Harry Potter licence, and those who are avid gamers and want something more. It's decidedly easier to do that with a card game since the price point is MUCH lower.
Also, to those saying that this should have been a full-on skirmish 'wargame', I heartily disagree. That would have put SO many people off buying this game as it needs all the bells and whistles with the tiles and such to make it accessible out of the box.
Will you be checking this out?

Fantastic minis and beautifully painted.
They are stunning like the earlier figure’s that’s out.
I… want… this… game…
I think it is better to offer a boardgame, you can always adapt it to a “wargame” system making some terrain and asigning ranges… a good hogwarts terrain would be great…
Hopefully, the wands aren’t as spindly as the weapons on the Batman minis. Unless, these aren’t going to be metal.
Beautiful paintjob! Miniatures looking awesome too. If the miniatures nice, one can always adapt them to a skirmish who one likes. The same is true for a lot of kickstarted boardgames. Would be nice to know if those are the final minis, or more likely resin masters.
@aphelian The final minis will be in resin so, in theory, exact to the “resin masters”. They do superb quality figures. 🙂
@blaeyn They are not metal
They said so in their note: “Each 35mm miniature is produced in high-quality resin”.
So… the wands are spindly? what I would hate is that they were thick… they are wands…
I sincerely doubt this game will be doing anything to cater to the non-miniature gaming crowd. If you’ve never owned a miniatures game before, Knight Models aren’t about to become your first stop.
I really cant wait for this
Those are great looking minis.
@rickyard Ah ok, i wasn’t aware of that! Thank you for clarification! 🙂
Spindly resin wand for a board game, doubt if these models will survive shipping, let alone playing with.
Just start the KS and take my money already!!
After reading the Dakka comments on KM’s QA and customer service, I’m reluctantly going to give this one a pass, unless the miniatures are at a price worth a risk. Do your due diligence.
