Fabled Realms Beta Weekend - Sunday
4Ground's Cad Talks Campaigning & Fabled Realms Rules Changes
Since this is a Fabled Realms Beta Weekend, that means that some of the rules are in flux and so Cad talks through some of the changes that they are implementing when it comes to the game this weekend.
Make sure to give these a try yourself this weekend and tell us what you think of them. I really like the idea of seeing how throwing weapons work for you guys!
The Beta engine at work.
I’ll definitely be picking up one of those mini maps. Also I seem to remember seeing some lake town style houses from 4Ground at some point but I haven’t seen or heard anything about them for a while, anyone have any info ?
On one of the pictures of friday there is a watermill.
Also there has been a boathouse unlocked in the kickstarter (so that will be oktober the earliest (My guess))
Well like the extra action idea and the thrown weapon addition. The extra dice thing is making my head hurt. Is there a simpler way? We’ll see what the beta testers say?
Thrown weapons are very nice and adds a nice feature to the game.
Still wondering, will Warren’s white tiger, hidden dragon make it in the lore?
I like those rule changes, the sice upgade dependent on the number makes loads of sense. Ill probably end up forgettig to begin with though. Great idea on the throwing weapons, i can really visualise someone throwing their knife in before pulling their main weapon out on the charge. I know I said it on the image but I absolutely love that campaign map and really want to start one myself. Im so glad that this is going to be availiable for me to buy in the future. It really give me a reason for playing and pulls me into the… Read more »
I love the idea of a living world changed by the players!
sounds like fun
Wow, these seem like some major adjustments.
I need that map in my life. No idea what for yet, but I need it!
Good to get a glimpse of how a fundamental change to a game-play system will affect unit balance. Hope to see some reflection on this change before the end of the day.
I love that they use the beta weekend not only to get feedback but also to test new things.
Really nice how the world can be changed by the players.
Like the ideas for henchmen ganging up on a target and the thrown weapons rules, just have to wait and see about how easy the dice increase mechanics will work with the henchmen. It seems to make sense but I’m crap at remembering buffers at the best of times, I’d probably need it putting on a stat card.
How about beta’ing some mounted rules? I want my winged hussars to sweep through the town square leaving dead Dragoi in their wake.
Some cool new stuff.
Cool to see the henchmen improving.
I think the changes should speed things up, the combat seemed to bog down due to ineffectual henchmen.
Good to see play testing at work.
Better henchmen is a good thing from my experience. A charm from Frostgrave is the deadlineness, your knight can succumb to a thug, and a group of thugs have the upper hand.
OK, if I have someone throw a knife and the range is 8″, what happens if they are standing on terrain 8″ high? Can they throw 8″ out, or does the knife just drop 8″ down?
I like the idea of out numbering bonuses. But could it get too complicated at some point. I just think there is a balance to strike between a balanced game and a simple game.
Sam, get them seated!;-)
By the way, has one thought about different dice sizes instead of different colors. D4;D6;D8;D10;D12 maximum being critical, 1-2 less being a hit
I really love the new dice. throw stars yes now I can dream of a fabled samurai warband 😉
Really like the idea of having an interactive map you can update while playing the game.
Makes fighting that skirmish potentially have some weight to it.
