Star Wars: Legion Painting VLOG – Part 3

For Part 3, it's time to get painting. Everything is primed and ready, so I'm moving on to getting the minis highlighted.
First, I break out the airbrush and get started on the Stormtroopers.
This gives us their iconic white armour, while keeping the nice shadows of the grey undercoat.
From there, I added a nice layer of shading to the vehicles, keeping the uniform grey of the AT-ST, but adding a more textured look with the airbrush.
In the next video, we'll start looking at adding details to the models.

I would have thought that the highlight color for the AT-ST was going to be too light when you showed the bottle, but once it was applied over the gray primer and it took on the tone from the primer, it worked quite well. Color me surprised.
Damn I want an AT-ST. Looking forward to seeing when you go to town on one with full on weathering etc… have the image of kit rolls being added for extended patrols.
I would like to give one the “full” treatment. Make it look really battered and worn.
I haven’t the time for another game, even star wars, but I so want that AT ST mini. I really like the simple approach to painting everything as well, the zenith approach,.particularly for single colour minis like stormtroopers is by far the easiest way to get a shaded and highlighted mini on the table. For some colours, red esepcially, but the khaki rebels would be a good example too, I also like to airbrush a shade from the bottom of the mini, sort of the exact opposite of zenith lighting. Brown or Purple, very thin, even using thinned inks from… Read more »
WOW I have been on the fence about picking about an airbrush for awhile a now. But that AT-ST quick demo just made up my mind. I am sure that you made it look easy but damn that was quick.
I always try to show an Airbrush as just another tool. One that, with a little practice, gives you great results without needing to pour over books and try to figure things out and eventually scare yourself off or dread picking it up 🙂 It is actually pretty easy after you;ve made enough mistakes to see what you can do and what you can learn to do.
