Monolith’s Catwoman Is On The Prowl In New Preview
February 10, 2018 by brennon
Monolith's Catwoman has been previewed for Batman: Gotham City Chronicles. Created to be in line with the Batman they've chosen for their game world she is wearing a costume that might be unfamiliar to some.
I can see what they're looking to do here with the very figure hugging suit that she's wearing, showing off her musculature and such, but for some reason, it just doesn't seem quite right to me. I think this is an improvement however over what we saw Batwoman wearing in an earlier preview.
Here is the coloured version of her...
It may simply be that it's quite odd seeing her without a lick of paint applied. I like that they've gone for a significantly more out there and wild scheme though for her, and the suit certainly places her away from some existing ideas of her. She actually seems to be more in line with the cartoon version of her from the 90s.
What do you think of the model?

I’m not sure I have the skills to do it myself but I’d love to see this mini with the heavy black shading of the comic artwork
I didn’t particularly like this version of Catwoman’s costume. A long dangling tail seems like a bit of a nuscience for a thief.
A very odd choice of catwoman to use. Gonna make a hard pass on this game. Too many of the renders are cack. Which is a hard choice because Im a DC superfan
Agreed.
This model has some weird abdominals going on that just seem to stop like the sculptor lost interest, is very skinny around the shoulders yet still very busty and the fingers look weirdly bony. I get that she has claws in the outfit, but those fingers belong on some crooked witch character, not on Selina Kyle.
I too am a big DC fan, but this isn’t doing it for me.
A stunning looking model figure.
Sculpt is very nice but I must admit that I am not fan of that costume
Too many meh sculpts in this project to be worth backing. If they rely on being painted to look good then the target market is shrinking to dedicated hobbyists rather than board gamers.
Dont think that dedicated hobbyist or painters will back this for the miniatures… After all they are pvc and there are better alternatives out there
I think it’s shrinking to current-day Batman readers familiar with these stories. I dropped out of comics around the 52 series, so these particular versions of these DC characters are unfamiliar to me.
Well its kinda good they are moving away from the Arkham game influenced style of the direct competition, cant say i object to the mini, always have a softspot for late 80’s to mid 90’s batman art style.
I think the problem with the mini is the pose, im guessing meant to be just leaped down/being stealthy instead they captured the ive just shat myself in a leotard perfectly.
The culexus assassin from gw suffers from this “just sharted myself” problem

I really like the classic catwoman, now we are used to the arkham series characters, and while they are stunning, its a change. Can’t wait to back this game, we have only seen a tiny bit of the whole picture. Keep up the good work!
Personally I think Tim Burton redefined the character by sewing Michelle Pfeiffer into black PVC.
interesting but its not pushing enough buttons to get me really excited about it. Btw. this version of Catwoman was created by Jeph Loeb and artist Tim Sale not sure if it was for The Long Halloween.
This is another great one! With the ones that don’t look good there are replacements so I think they are doing a good job so far. It is much harder to make such iconic individual characters come to life than it was to do the Conan mini’s where there really isn’t a lot of canon pictures just the reference material.
It’s not a bad looking mini, Harley Quin was way more fugly.
I don’t know how anybody could think this looks better than the Batwoman model. That sculpt is anatomically correct all over, other than her ab muscles are a little too pushed out. This on the other hand, I just don’t think Monolith quite knows what they’re doing when using sculpts like this to build hype for the campaign. Her ab muscles are simply not human, they seem to extend up through her bust, ignoring the idea of her having a ribcage entirely. Her neck muscles are so strained as to be unsettling in appearance. Why they simply didn’t tell the… Read more »
While I agree with everything you just said I’m still expecting this to fund on day 1, if not in the first hour, and rack up at least 2 million. With the IP and amount of exposure it has been getting anything less would be damning.
Oh yeah, I expect it can get close to 3.5 million like Conan did, and I’ll probably be there on day 1 pledging for it. It’s still cool to have the Batman world put into miniature form and made available in one purchase, even if not every component is a winner.
