MWAHAHAHA!!!! I’m not crying, this is great!! Cut it some more!!! 😛
It almost slipped my mind, don’t forget battle damage. Something brought this huge brute down, there should still be some sign of scarring or the fatal shot left on it somewhere.
I mean, it’s not like AT-ATs die of natural causes…. 😉 😛
Please tell me that the “working” panel next to the area @johnlyons worked on in the vid is kept – it would be great to see this propped up as if part of a work in progress bit – also its a “natural” join so it would look like it was meant to be there (as it is… if that makes sense…)
The little hatch will be kept as it is 🙂 It can still open.
Man, awesome yet tragic at the same time. This table will look aces!
This makes me sad. When I get home from work, I am going to go home and hug all my AT-ATs and let them know that everything will be OK. Aside from that, it is looking good. It would never have occurred to me to build terrain out of some of the Hasbro toys. I have a couple of this version at home, but they are safe from knife work. I took a quick look at eBay, and this AT-AT is hella expensive. I’m a bit surprised you didn’t disassemble the body, pull out the electronics, do your cutting then,… Read more »
Also, I want to see someone build a table that resembles the landing platform on Endor.
Someone on the official FFG Forums in the process of building it.
Our issue comes with wanting detail and wanting space to move models and get your hands in without breaking stuff. But detail will come
its like cutting your gentle mans sausage off !!
I feel a disturbance in the force like a billion inner kids cried out.
I think @lancorz missed an opportunity here, there could have been some techno Imperial March running during the Dremel.
That pour AT AT was crying out in pain all throughout the video.
I didn’t edit this one, otherwise there would have been 😛
ok, ok, i’ll tell you everything, just stop cutting.
If you are getting on with it, you may consider using a soldering iron to scare the unit with battle damage. On another website they talked about the physics of Star Wars and how the weapons would basically melt or burn armor compared to our current day tanks with shells. Also, I can imagine the thing falling over would probably damage itself some.
soldering irons are cool, but they make the plastic too molten. The grinding tool on the Dremel melts through friction which gives you a little better control over it. And yes, falling over does bring its own damage, but I would say most of that would be on the side impacting the ground.
That’s going to look awesome when finished . How does it scale out with the new Legion figures ? And would it work with FFG’s other Star Wars figures , Imperial Assault ?
From what I know, and have seen in other pictures online, the Legion mini’s are roughly DUST size in proportions. So I’ve been using them as proxy for now. The scale seems decent so long as you hide/remove some details like chairs etc..
“Good, use your aggressive feelings John … let the Dremel flow through you!”
This project is going to be awesome! Any chance you can show off some of the Legion stuff for scale?
Part of me cries ” Sacrilege ” 🙁 , but another part of me cries ” awesome ” 😀 . Loving the progress, eager to see more.
