The Caped Crusader Dons Armour In New Monolith Batman Previews
January 25, 2018 by brennon
Monolith shared loads more previews over the last few days for Batman: Gotham City Chronicles, which will be hitting Kickstarter on the 27th February. We start with an armoured version of Batman.
Sometimes the enemies Batman must face call for heavier armour and a more brutal approach. When he faces foes beyond the capabilities of a mere human (as strong as he is) he needs a bit of extra support.
You will find that it hasn't just been Bruce Wayne who has donned this armour either. Azrael wore it for a time and even Jim Gordon has put it on!
Faithful Friend
Fighting alongside Batman we also have this preview for Batgirl, also known as Barbara Gordon.
Batgirl was an important member of the family, lending her crime-fighting support to both Batman and Robin on more than one occasion.
This is of course before the unfortunate events that led to her being wheelchair bound and taking up the role of Oracle.
A Deadly Killer
Lastly, as part of the previews, we also got a look at Monolith's model for Deathstroke.
Deathstroke, also known as Slade Wilson, is a deadly assassin who has clashed with Batman numerous times during his career.
He has fought alongside the Suicide Squad before but spends most of his time trying to bring down Batman thanks to the whims of some villainous plot.
What do you make of the latest previews for Gotham City Chronicles?

As I understand it, this shares some mechanics with the Conan game, can anyone confirm this? Also anyone’s views on that as I’ve not had the pleasure. Seen a couple of small vids but not enough to get a feel for the game.
Yes. Confirming.
Here’s a how to play video

We will have a full play through coming out soon.
It shares some of the mechanics, but for example, characters dont die, they just are unconscious. So I read.
The figures are great, i would have prefered the Arkham deathstroke, but this one is great
Love the armoured bat suit.
Favourite models they have made for this game so far but I really didn’t like some of the others
A nice course adjustment
Oh, oh… what deal did Batsie take for that extra (terrestrial) punch?
Clearly, that suit is Hordak approved!
😛
These are restoring my faith in the sculptors. Some have been good some ok and more than a few have been rather meh. These look great and with so many options from the history of Bat man they can really pick some awesome variations. I think the minis game having the animated versions look the best but I am partial to that particular look and feel.
I hope they keep up the good work.
@jackdanielsimow Conan is an excellent game. Players have to manage their reserves of energy from round to round, giving the gameplay a really dynamic feel. Players can be truly heroic, slaying enemies left and right, but they’ll be left panting and potentially vulnerable the round after. Added to that, the models and boards are lovely. One of my favourite boardgames.
A good Batgirl and the Batsuit is straight out of the Court of Owls storyline which I liked a lot.
Not keen on Deathstrokes posture, but the details are OK. Its very much a comic book version with the big boots.
Overall a better batch of sculpts, I feel this kickstarter is going to be a really mixed bag!
@carlosfandango Super, cheers for that. Hopefully the KS will be well run, with rules posted. Can’t back a game without rules posted, Just a draft is fine!
I think as long as this is relatively quick play, the mechanics are as good as you say, the minis aren’t terrible, and the KS is relatively well run then I’m in.
Gotta ask, did Batman build the armour on that first mini, in the Batcave…with a box of scraps?
:p
Its the face grill I think. It was pretty much meant to be a prototype suit for all out war, so big chunky and brutal. The Talons (Court of Owls assassins) he was fighting in it are reanimated killers with extreme regenerative abilities so he gets to ‘stop holding back’ and lay into them, hence the unsubtle tool of destruction.
