Osprey’s Oathmark Gathers A Warband Of Elves In Plastic
January 18, 2018 by brennon
Osprey Games are on course to bring the awesome world of Oathmark to life soon. At present we're still getting a load of miniatures to warm us up though with North Star previewing the plastic Elves!
Taking some cues from the original preview, the team behind the miniatures decided to change the size of the plume on the helmets and make it so that you can remove it if you like too.
It looks like the set will follow the cue of existing plastic sets for the Dwarves and Goblins in that it will contain a myriad of weapon options including bows, swords and spears. Once again they have a nice Tolkien-esque look to them, looking like some of the older representations of them from the 60s and 70s.
It's steadily becoming quite hard not to create a series of warbands for Battle Companies using these models as the basis for it. You could very easily make warbands for Durin's Folk, Rivendell and Moria out of these kits.
Humans!
As well as this look at the Elves we also got a peek ahead at the Humans with this metal test figure that was sculpted up to be the basis for the range.
I think the model looks awesome and manages to get across a range of different cultures from the Roman looking shield to the more Dark Age/Medieval armour and helmet design. Once again, a nice new fit for Middle-earth perhaps as Gondorians?
What do you think of these newest previews?

I really am liking this range, though the goblins aren’t to my tastes.
I believe the Elves will go up for pre-order in April so I expect I will be able to see them at Salute.
On their FB page they said they are planning plastic cavalry and heavy infantry for each race too.
Odd. I love the goblins and will be ordering multiple boxes. It’s time someone got away from the cartoony fare we’ve had to endure for decades now, and North Star have done it in grand style.
Elves are nice too, but I’m all topped up with GW and Mom Miniaturas models.
I thinks its the faces…they just don’t quite look as good as the art on the box.
These are superb! I’ve been constantly impressed with their range. I just hope that the goblin cavalry are riding wolves.
Like the Elves but impressed by that human figure
Range is great, while I am personally not a fan of the elves, I do like the 3rd ed warhammer sea elf feel.
Humans are an interesting look, I quite like them. Can’t wait to see the rules, and more goblin units.
nice looking figures the hero quest elven must have been from the oathmark elves?
Those elves are some of the most characterful miniatures I’ve seen in ages – love them.
The human is really good too.
Think of the metallic you could use to paint them.
They would be so cool on a terrain table with model-railway type ‘authentic’ trees. or a Mighty Fortress style siege.
I hope they do Sea Elves with shell-shields and tridents and things 🙂
‘metallics’ – does any company do a match for that butter-coloured yellow-gold Citadel used to sell in the 80s/90s ?
flesh-washing silver doesn’t quite get it 🙁
Check out the Coat d’arms range they used to make GWs paints back in the day.
Not sure why they are doing Humans again, there’s the Frostgrave soldiers and the excellent Barbarians that would do (and they could have mastered a different army).
…and the Coat D’Arms range of paints is excellent and still come in the “will keep paint without drying out for a decade” pots (rather than the “upgraded” GW ones that have a shelve life of 6 months)
They have said that the two games aren’t in the same world so while the plastics have been designed to work for both (a very good idea) they won’t carry across to Oathmark. Also, one is a skirmish game and the other a battle scale game so its understandable that they’d want to do more humans with their own flavour and with a less rag-tag appearance. I do like those pots and the paints are very good. I always found it a shame they didn’t do a poster of the range to better choose colours as the pics on the… Read more »
Because humans sell.
