Let’s Play: Para Bellum – Conquest – Learn To Play
January 15, 2018 by dignity
Leo from Para Bellum has landed in the studio to teach me how to play Conquest.
In Conquest, the miniatures are considered warbands and with the size of this game being so huge, the gameplay is fast paced and quick to resolve damaged units.
In this game I'm working with the Hunter Kingdoms against the alien brute forces of the Spire along with the Thresher Abomination which is available in the core box. My objective is to kill it!
What do you think of Para Bellum Conquest?
Thank you for this demonstration. It seems the core rules are easy to pick up. Going for 1s and 2s instead of 5s and 6s may be a bit awkward at the beginning. The game is really fast-paced so far, with all the explanations and comments of the players it lasted 40 minutes. It could have been resolved in 10 minutes, I think. For me that´s rather quick. Now I am waiting for a “let´s play” including initial deployment and, as far as they exist, other actions or other phases. I wouldn´t be surprised to see magic in some form,… Read more »
During the interview on the Weekender it was said that all the bases seen here are included. So the movement trays are in as well.
I believe I saw on a Facebook post that they are roughly 33-36mm in scale.
The first impression is really good. Have to see what other factions are coming out.
I’m really excited about this game. Have been since the initial teasers. What I like so far about the mechanics is the pace. Can’t wait to see the Calvary and Brute Drones smash face.
More please!
Very fast and killy, which I like a lot. I think it will be interesting to see a full game from the start, because I think the whole mechanic of controlling the deployment zone is going to be really key to how a battle plays out. Also, for me personally, interested to see more variety in special rules for individual units. That can push away from how clean a game is, and how smooth it flows, but I also find it’s great for adding character and unique interest to units.
That looks like a very fast game. I would like to see a full game including the maneuvering, because I think that will be a big part of the game.
In this demo Justin was basically given the win with the Abomination charging forward so carelessly.
