Phalanx Preview Upcoming Kickstarter UBOOT: The Board Game
January 4, 2018 by stvitusdancern
Phalanx has posted a link to preview their upcoming board game UBOOT!
In this game, you play as one of four crew members: Captain, First Officer, Chief Engineer and the Navigator.
You will have to give and take orders to move your crew around the boat, being careful not to overtax them that could possibly lead to morale issues. This appears to be a worker placement/resource management versus a pure combat wargame.
I am very interested in this game after we got a quick peek at it at last year's UK Games Expo. Besides who doesn't love the movie, Das Boot! Some other interesting aspects of this game will be an actual submarine game board to move your miniatures around in and an app that you use as your periscope and execute the captain's orders.
This looks to be a very exciting game and I think it would make an entertaining Let's Play, hmmm...
It is set to go live January 22nd, why not take a look at the preview page and see for yourself if you have what it takes to be in the Silent Service.
Are you ready to deep six the enemy?

Damn it … I thought I could start this year without kickstarters.
This scene from ‘Das Boot’ should fit :

We’re big fans of Captain Sonar so I’ll be checking this one out
You had me up until you mention that it relies on an App. Instant pass for me now.
I’m the opposite.
The idea of integrating an app in a game like this is very interesting.
I doubt they could make it ‘real time’ and have a tense game if you had to roll dice and consult tables in order to see if that destroyer spotted you …
Of course this all depends on the quality of the app, but otoh they have had a functional prototype so the basics are in
I wish I could recommend enough how well apps can work if used well.
See X-Com, by Eric Lang, where the app adds an integral element to the game, is one of the most fun and intense Boardgames released over the past few years. Can totally imagine how it could be worked in a similar way for a submarine simulation.
Oh my poor wallet, here we go again.
Pretty sure I saw a prototype at UKGE last year. Looked really good.
!!ALARM!! this interesting looking.
please no….. wanted to get through one year with no kickstarter. This looks really good, damn!!!!
@avernos look Gerry some U-Boat loveliness… an plastic U-Boat upgrade would push me over the edge
My resolution for no KS this year was broken once when I saw the news about the Highlander game. It’s now been broken a second time! 🙂
