Christmas Carnage IV – The North Pole Under Attack Again!
December 20, 2017 by brennon
Once again @oriskany brings us news of some terrible goings on at the North Pole with Christmas Carnage IV. If you've not checked this out before it's an awesome bit of fun on the tabletop featuring some weird and whacky armies.
If you're entirely unsure what all of this is about, let's have oriskany explain...
"Good evening Beasts of War. For the fourth year running, we have to interrupt your regularly-scheduled Beast of War content for an emergency flash bulletin – SANTA’S WORKSHOP AT THE NORTH POLE IS UNDER ATTACK! We repeat, SANTA’S WORKSHOP AT THE NORTH POLE IS UNDER ATTACK!
As of this hour, we are reliably informed that the brave and elite North Pole Defense Force (NPDF – a highly-trained militia to protect the warm wishes and good cheer of Santa and his winter village during the holiday season) has been mobilized to meet the incursion.
What is less clear is the exact nature of this latest threat. Of course, the NPDF has stood off three previous assaults on the North Pole, which first came under attack by a rogue task force of 1930s-era Soviet armour, then a tank-helicopter battlegroup of 1985 Team Yankee Soviets, and finally an hypertech assault force of Clan Ghost Bear ‘mechs from the Sci-Fi classic BattleTech universe."
If you want to check out previous years you can do so here for 2014, 2015 and 2016. They are all quite a hoot.
New Year, New Threats
This time, however, Santa faces a new threat...
"This year, however, Santa’s workshop faces a far darker, more mysterious threat. Not a historical army, or a modern army, or even a Sci-Fi army...but a horde spawned of pure evil and supernatural forces beyond scientific understanding.
Time will only tell if the NDPF is equipped to stand off this latest threat. We promise to keep you informed with bulletins as more information comes in. Can Christmas be saved...yet again?"
Make sure to go and check out what's going on with Christmas Carnage IV over in the forums and get involved in the comments with what you thought of the battle and its outcome.
Do you play any Christmas themed games around this time of year?

Another Christmas battle! What a great BoW tradition! 😀
I like that snowman in the banner image! We need to recruit him into our NPDF army, none of these crazy armies will dare attack the North Pole again! 😀 Nice work @lancorz ! 😀 And thanks for the write up, @brennon! 😀
I think this has been one of my favourite designs this year.
Definitely epic work. 😀
There should be enough snow for Santa to raise an army of snow men.
Although I’m not sure if they could handle a fire ball …
Team Santa FTW!
The problem isn’t the snow, it’s the limited manna for magic that animates them and allows for some kind of ranged “magical snowball” attack. There was a very sophisticated and intricate “resource management” system at play here (not really). 😀
lol …
if a snow man throws a snow ball he’s cannibalizing himself as he throws a little piece of him at the enemy.
See, no mana needed.
His attack simply costs wounds …
Nice work Frosty. Yeah, you’ve killed that enemy but you’re gone too.
So a snowman battalion would get ONE really powerful attack … but then be removed from play. 😀
He’s cool, but the bumble might feel a bit of competition.
No one completes with the Bumble. 😐
I came across a snowman mass grave when out digging recently. But when I contacted the authorities they refused to investigate and said it was just a field of carrots!
The horror. The horror
Nothing but corncob pipes, carrots, and coal-eyes. Such a grim scene, and the Hague / International Red Cross refuses to investigate. 🙁 Where is the justice?
I wonder what they would make of those industrial areas in Wales. Coal Mines or collection points for snowmen eyes?… You decide
A dark and grim conundrum I’d rather not contemplate. 😀
If you’re going to recruit Snowmen into the NPDF, the angry type as depicted in the banner are likely to be far better than the Snowman depicted in the animated cartoon of the same name. All he’s likely to do is make you some hot chocolate and take you for a magical fly round the local neighbourhood.
But, snowmen might be useless against fiery dragon breath….
The brigade of snowman heavy infantry has done pretty well during the four battles so far depicted. To see how well they did this year, check out the battle report. 😀 They definitely got hit hard . . .

So not just the house of lord dinosaur’s we have to worry about now then @oriskany ?
We shouldn’t have to worry about the Dinosaurs for a while, @zorg . 😀 If you check out the actual battle report, you’ll see where these toys were “rehabilitated” and “refurbished” to their originally innocent purpose as toys f- or deserving boys, girls, and gamers who are really too old to be playing with such toys. 😀 😀 😀
What am I saying, we’re never too old! Never grow up!
Lol you don’t know the kids around here rough aint the half of it.
I live in Fort Lauderdale, and just north of Miami. Some of our kids are a little “rough around the edges” too. And half the time they have automatic weapons. 😀
I liked the song I’ll pass on the real thing.
mad as a box of frogs is quite common from where i come from..lol…great battle report tho..glad santa made it through 🙂
Thanks much, @phil57 – Merry Christmas!
The attack on the Pole, and now the season is really upon us … now Xmas music is acceptable until the 25th
Oh no, @rasmus ! I hope you weren’t holding off on the Christmas music until I posted this. These evil armies always wait until launching their attacks right near the actual day of Christmas to maximize their chances of disrupting the holiday. Fortunately they have always failed so far. 😀
HUZZAH ……. Now it feels like Christmas …. thank you @oriskany . Merry Christmas to you and your nearest and dearest. 🙂
Thanks very much, @beardragon – I hope you and your friends and family have a great Christmas and a 2018 packed with “sixes.” 😀
And the Elves have already covered the North Pole in recruitment posters bearing the legend “Your Santa needs you…” complete with a picture of the jolly man himself with an uncharacteristically grim expression, pointing authoritatively at the viewer.
Sounds like a Photoshop project waiting to happen, @vetruviangeek . I want a poster of a crashed sleigh in the snow surrounded by weeping children watching their toys burn, with the WW2 / WW1 warning emblazoned underneath:
BECAUSE SOMEONE TALKED!
