More Aliens From Archon’s Chronicle X As Kickstarter Goes LIVE
December 18, 2017 by brennon
Live right now on Kickstarter, Archon Studio is ready to invade the planet with Chronicle X. You can get the chance to jump in on this game where you play heroes trying to stave off complete annihilation by the alien menace.
Let's take a look at what's on offer through the Kickstarter.
Kickstarter Project
First up we have a look at what is contained within the Core Pledge...
Here's is the overview of the game from Archon themselves...
Chronicle X is a 2-7 player tactical board game, set in a Sci-Fi Retro 1980s, tasking players to either control the daring men and women that make up the military organization, Chronicle X, or the Overmind, a ruthless and cunning alien overseeing the invasion of Earth and the end of all human resistance.
The Chronicle X player(s) have a diverse group of heroes to choose from to form their squad, but must also manage the expansion of their base of operations, using what scraps and materials they can to secure a foothold on the planet. The Overmind player has a cadre of alien troops to choose from to overwhelm the Chronicle X players, ensuring they will never save Earth.
You can also see our chat with the designer behind the game HERE from the last Weekender show. There is also an Early Bird Special for those who have jumped in first with this Gray Master.
So, if you get involved quickly within the first two days you could get your hands on a rather cool and unique Alien with which to bring to the board. They also have their eyes on stretch goals already and here are the first two for you to aim for.
I quite like that we're seeing some neat new options already for the Grays in the game's future and they also have some more crackpot heroes to throw into the mix which change things up between games. A mad scientist is always welcome when there are aliens involved.
Big Beasts & Cunning Commanders
The game does feature some awesome looking characters but it's the aliens that consistently catch our eye. Here, for example, we have one of the Devoli Ridgewalkers.
These alien creatures have been harnessed by the Grays during their invasion of earth and are now sent out in packs to hunt down your poor hapless humans and rip them limb from limb!
Giving the orders there are also these Gray Commanders who are clad in a little more armour.
These commanders are ruthless and efficient. Such are the numbers of the Gray invasion force that while destroying one might ensure victory in the short term, there will soon be another willing to take their place.
Make sure to give the Kickstarter a look and see if this one is for you.

They may not want to admit it, but let’s be honest, this is effectively the X-COM tactical board game! Can’t wait.
It says that they are using Unicast (so non-PVC) and that all is produced in Europe. I thought that Unicast belonged to Prodos, but this is marketed by Archon Studio. Do anyone know how this is connected?
Both companies are closely related but to put it simply Archon is the board game and production focused arm of the two, whereas Prodos is miniature gaming. Az
So why is BoW promoting a company so closely linked with failed projects that have left hobby fan out of pocket? Shame.
Prodos are Archon, they started creating games and product from their manufacturing arm to avoid the bad press from crapping on their AVP kickstarter backers. If I remember right they even tried to hide this fact on their first load kickstarter.
I think wer up to 8 months without an update from Prodos about AVP.
You’re right, and it’s been 4 years of waiting for the AvP backers.
Check the RE-LOAD comments. Some backers not happy there either (and shouting in key caps about it).

Are this lot the guys who used to be Prodos and has the AVP ks that failed? Now under a new name?
They are the same company
Give more money to Prodos..?
Hahahahhahahah. Hahahha. Hahahhaahahahhhaa…
NO!
Just stop giving these dishonest, shady, untrustworthy mongrels your hard earned cash so they can employ their family members and live the dream until it comes time to pay the piper and then they will cut off all communications with the very people who helped them get this turd factory off the ground.
So how did their previous kickstarers go ?
Whining about a single mistake from the past is stupid if they have changed their ways.
And given that BoW did mention their previous one and we haven’t seen any bad news (yet) I’m tempted to think that they have moved on, so maybe we should too ?
What’s the current state of play with the AVP kickstarter?
Maybe you should understand that before calling people whiners. I’m tempted to think that would be a good idea, so maybe you should too?
Good point. Oh, no. Hang on, that’s utter rubbish. A single mistake? LMAO. How about over 4 years of lies and obfuscations. And a company re-naming that they tried to disguise. And now BoW are shills for them. Very sad.
looks good n love the figures.
I do like the look of the the minis and the gameplay. Love the X-Com vibe and will watch with interest. I note comments from those who have taken exception with the advertising and backing of this kickstarter and the company running it. I have a friend who got shafted on the AVP kickstarter and I got burned by the Robotech kickstarter so I understand people’s need to vent, but the way you word your opinions is as much a testament to your character as it is to the companies who have failed in their promises. I appreciate being informed… Read more »
@spaced2020 when should you let it go, depends on the situation. Company goes Boom then yeah theres nothing you can do and you need to move on but lets be honest you’ll always keep an eye out of the people behind it in the future. The case with Prodos is that they are trying to brush this under the rug, pretend this never happened after lying to their backers. To this situation i say that they need to fix their mess rather than playing like their the victims or pretending it didn’t happen. while they continue to operate under this… Read more »
This makes me suspect about BoW, which is sad. Surely someone should be calling this out and making it clear that this bunch, using a different name, failed to deliver on previous KS projects.
BoW should be about the hobby, and not just about promoting companies with bling miniatures.
@tankkommander A few quick things on this 🙂 We have a thread here: http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/sci-fi-gamer-town-square/forum/topic/calling-avp-kickstarter-backers/ where I’m trying to help folk get the most up to date information on where delivery is at and what options they have in the mean time. Other community members such as @siygess have been helping keep us right on the specifics of what exchange options people have at the moment. Prodos have a list of specific questions we gave them on stuff some folk are confused about, but my new born son has been going through a bit of a time of it (needing surgery)… Read more »
For myself the moment I saw AVP on Kickstarter I avoided it like the plague Not because the idea or the company was bad but rather it was the IP of FOX
They have a iron grip on everything they own and would make this KS a true nightmare as they did. Well with the potable buying of Fox in the next few months after the legal stuff is out of the way it may be even harder to move forward with the approval of sculpts from them.
To be fair, we don’t know (and probably never will) what was because of Fox and what was because of Prodos. However, I don’t believe that Fox has any CURRENT impact on the ability of Prodos to finish delivery of the AvP KS.. a process which is still slowly happening.
Close on hitting the trigger on this, but I would reelly like some real gameplay video’s instead of just the overview.
Big guy in first picture looks too much like Rob Liefeld style character from dark age of comics that’s early and middle 90’s to my taste. But I do like those other sculpts.
Liefeld? Nah, not enough pouches….
