Forge World Begin Sculpting New Nazgul For Lord Of The Rings
December 12, 2017 by brennon
Forge World has begun to sculpt new versions of the Nazgul, also known as the Ringwraiths, for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The first model they've previewed is Khamul The Easterling.
Shown here in his guise from The Hobbit trilogy when the White Council strike at Dol Guldur he cuts a dangerous looking figure. He was effectively the second in command of the Nazgul under the Witch King himself.
Whilst this certainly opens up an interesting avenue to explore when it comes to that particular fight you could also drop him into the likes of the Battle Of The Black Gate or Pelennor Fields where he would also have had a hand in the fighting.
The look and style of the different Nazgul divided a lot of people when it came to that scene in Battle Of The Five Armies, but I actually like that they expanded on them and gave them a bit more of a unique look.
What do you think of Khamul?

I play Rohirim and Gondor so nope.
But my opponent is seriously considering this.
it is really that a Forge World miniature? Seems a bit… amateurish. Simple. Like it was done 15 years ago.
You’re right, @viciouscircle . Could have been far more dynamic: back arched, mace held high, only the ball of one foot on the ground, as if he were leaping forward to deliver a fatal blow, with cape flowing in the wind. Instead we get the ‘Is that my bus?’ stance.
That looks really nice.
Neat! The Easterlings are my favourite evil force but thry suffer from Stormtrooper syndrome in that they are very faceless. Although there is a War Priest, Dragon Knight etc none of the figures really stood out apart from Kamul, who was okay but not super interesting to look at (though certainly consistent with the other Ringwraiths). This new model stands out a lot more as a potential ‘centrepiece’ of an Easterling force and I will certainly be picking him up!
Usually GW/FW can be regularly guilty of over complicated miniatures, but this is simple and all the better for it.
the horns look to big to being top heavy.
Static and… well… a bit lame. The body proportions are off, with the legs being too short, or the belt too low. He’s almost comical, like a bit character in Monty Python’s Holy Grail. Not menacing at all.
forge world, really? used to be a name I associated with quality.
Looks ok, a bit short maybe fits the film images well. I was expecting these in a set, as individuals I fear the price will be high. The range is already above my price point, did mention plastics for troops would help a lot on the survey. I like what the team is doing a lot but price doesn’t work for me.
