Will You Take Part In Games Workshop’s Big Community Survey?
December 2, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop is reaching out to find out what YOU have to say about the hobby surrounding Warhammer 40,000 and Age Of Sigmar.
Games Workshop Community Survey
The team are reaching out to ask the community about what you guys want to see from them going forward when it comes to painting tutorials, their live content, the articles they include on their blog and in White Dwarf and more.
It's really nice to see that Games Workshop is opening up to more community feedback so that it can hopefully foster a growing and successful environment for us all to game in when it comes to exploring their worlds.
Give the survey a look!

I had to mention ‘www.beastsofwar.com’ a lot for some reason 😉
Yeah, I did too xD
As did I.
Glad I wasn’t the only one
I said it was nice to see them on Beasts of war …So I suppose that counts 🙂
Yep, me too. When you’ve got (in my opinion) the best hobby coverage in the world being produced on your relative doorstep engagement can only help the company.
This is great. This shows that GW is willing to listen community. My only regret when I had taken this survey is that I didn’t remember to mention wanting plastic Sisters of Battle and mentioning they weird and high pricing policy for single models like they Primaris characters.
I completed the survey, because anything that encourages GW to maintain its current level of community engagement, and even expand further in that direction, is to be welcomed.
I just said stop retconning good storyline for crap ones lol.
I did. It was a bit of a mess though. There were a few questions where no answer was relevant and there was no option not to give at least one of the answers. Also, where there was a option to write in a box it was poorly worded as ‘No Thanks’, and the purpose of the box wasn’t explicit.
I thought it was worth filling in to let them know that their resurrection of some of the classic boxed games has caused at least one old git to throw lots of cash at them over the last year!
Some of their decisions lately have been really encouraging. I’d love to see them go further and develop or publish completely new boxed games like the GW of old.
I said to bring back Squats .and that the blood angels dice at $50 Australian were hideously overpriced.
I also said I liked the changes they had made over the last 18 months
ooh …forgot about that.
See … that’s what they did to us.
We’re starting to forget the poor squats.
I don’t think the YOLO mini comments really help, but yeah I talked about price and Australia I talked about how I really liked what they have been doing recently and how it is becoming hard to recommend people to come into the hobby, as there is no way I can justifiably be able to do it at the current rate…
Anyway, I think be sincere but polite and hopefully, they will listen.
I completed the survey. Very surprised that it didn’t ask “which of the following ranges have you bought/played in the last six months? 40k, AoS, infinity , xwing, warmahordes , etc”. If it was me I would love to understand how loyal my customers are.
It gave me a chance to vent about them dropping old school WFB! Yay!
while I didn’t vent so much has gave them a little nudge regarding wfb .but the most suprising thing for me in answering the survey was how much I have drifted away from gw and tabletop games in general to more miniature boardgames kingdom death ,conan, mythic battles etc
Filled It in. Kept positive for the most part, but had to keep adding in WHFB into categories. Said I like good balanced rule sets for my games and that I was disappointed that AoS was not a move to releasing updates to all factions at the same time like other companies do to maintain balance and interest for all players. Also said the background and law I like the best is the oldworld, adding in that I still play the second edition of the RPG. For the website question, I said I was finding it hard to find things… Read more »
Completed it, said positive things about what I like, said honest things about what I don’t. Be interesting to see what the overall consencus is, but I doubt we will.
One thing that stuck out is aside from recognising board games it felt it tried to avoid talking about other miniatures games. I feel they could learn a lot from understanding why people are drawn to the competition, and indeed what the biggest competition is in the mini field.
I participated and did mention Beasts of War. I mentioned how I liked the newer things in the last few years and the fact they are more proactive and receptive to feedback and listening. I mentioned dislike of some prices, not generally speaking. Its always going to be not-cheap but some of the kits are a bit idiotitically priced. In contrast I mentioned my like of start collecting sets. In summary I think it is important that we all participate and use it as a platform to potential voice what we want back in regards of stuff they discontinued. I… Read more »
Yeah. I bigged up WFB where I could but said they were improving in their interaction with the community.
I took the survey, I made a lot of mentions of BoW. I hope they take some form of action on the results of the survey, seems like a good idea on their part and a good way to get the pulse of their customers.
dun.
This survey has given me reason to reflect upon my time as a hobbyist. I never thought that GW were the only people making minis- but they were my favorite for many years. These days, I spend more time painting my miniatures than almost anytime in my life- but only a small portion of it is spend on Games Workshop miniatures. Overall, I think that GW used to make the most accessible game and the best minis- but lately I find that other games and minis call to me more. That said, I’ve started getting very excited about GW’s boxed… Read more »
Took it and as I am not a huge GW player but do have a few items I was honest with how important BeastsofWar.com is to me and the coverage of GW they provide. After the English exile and other attacks on the public I wasn’t sure that GW could do much to get my attention back. They seem to be going in a much better direction now.
Was more than happy to fill this out over a weekend coffee and like others have mentioned saw it as a good chance to reflect on my recent hobby. Basic thrust of my answers was that GW’s new re engagement with the fans and a slightly different approach to most aspects of their business restored a hell off a lot of my faith in them. Specialist Games division back, check. The return of a proper White Dwarf, check. Acknowledgment of and engagement with (to some degree) the wider industry, check. Accessibility and innovation with new lines and systems, check. An… Read more »
