rambling in a video, you won’t catch @Lloyd “one take” Johnston doing that 😉
The halftrack is looking great, I don’t think you’ll get much tonal difference with the stippling as it’s self leveling, but if you wanted that flick it on so you get dots then comeback after a day and do the full wash over the vehicle.
Have you decided on basing style you’re going to go for, western or eastern, season of the year? Will we be seeing diorama like basing on the guns?
I don’t want to wait until monday. I’ll paint some Irish to distract me
I think I would have gone with stippled metallic on the floor where the paint would be worn away, then add a wash to the floor. I’m not sure the quick shade was doing you many favors on the interiors.
The halftrack is looking amazing. 😀 A few things, some from earlier episodes, only because I haven’t been keeping up with these videos nearly as well as I should have … 🙂 Yes, that STuH-42 commander should be in gray – in the broad, normal, “80% use-case” majority of the time. It just sounded like @johnlyons had decided on black, and I was making the point that there is a “20% corner-case” to be made for that. Gotta stick up for the “Tank God” after all. 😀 Some people have expressed mild discomfort with “Waffen SS” content on the site.… Read more »
That’s one way to handle it. But if you live in Germany (like I do) you can’t go around that easy and talk about “your SS force”. Because everything related with SS is prohibited by law if it is not used in an educational manner. So if someone who doesn’t know your thoughts on this topic well enough you could get into some serious trouble.
I know everyone around us handles this topic more relaxed but if Germans can one thing better than others then to overreact on everything.
Good points by all here. As a countryman of @oriskany I have watched an issue that is over 150 years old become fashionable to fight over again. As a free speech advocate I believe that bringing discussions out in the open allows for healthy back and forth.
And this is why I love people here at Beasts of War, we can have discussions.
That’s a good point. Because without discussions people tend to either idealize or demonize things. And that’s what’s happening in Germany.
The halftrack looks really really great.
And very nice you mentioned the tank I was a gunner during my service time as one of your favorites… the Leopard 1 🙂 It’s just a tin can but charming.
I have some really nice reference pics of dirty wheeled and tracked military equipment that I took while I was deployed. I’ve posted four of them in a thread called “Ref pics of dirty vehicles – Don’t you ever wash that thing?!” over on the Historical forum.
Hopefully, they might be useful to you in weathering this army. 🙂

seen that and I love it matey, post until you run out of pics as far as I’m concerned
Looking great!
I like the way the quickshade subtly meshes the colours in to one camouflage scheme.
Monday! Monday!?! We have to wait that long.
Looking good and I really can’t wait to see the inside of the halftrack once it dries and then the matte finish is on.
Nice job, they look good better then i thought it would with the shade on, but you always amaze me whatever you do. But I have to say I like your other paint yob better for the tank wars. So I believe ill go with that, the one downside I don’t have a spray gun, so its all hands on for me or spray can.
