With our Kings of War Week fast approaching the guys have broken out the two player starter set for Mantic's Fantasy Wargame. Even though this might be one of the older starter sets on the market it still seems to be just as cool and should help you take your first steps in their world of Mantica.

For $66 is simply a great deal and the fact that i don’t have to paint tons of near cousins dwarf with different skin/hair tones in order to make them more unique… makes it a lot better. But i think, compared with all those new delicious starter box for Dreadball and Deadzone , there should exist a deluxe version that includes the complete rulebook ( or one with more stuff ) and terrain matt that also includes the new building system. Maybe $90 – $100 will be a great price for that and compared with other big armies games you… Read more »
This is a great deal… even better because the KoW minis are getting more detailed and better cast all the time !
The undead are a favorite of mine (as well as the ogres).
Undead for the Win… because in the End, they ALWAYS win! 🙂
The ghouls and zombies look so good … and the old orc infantry looks very nice.
Definitely go for undead in KoW ^^
These are also becoming great proxies … probably should try out KoW sometime as well 🙂
had my eye on the ogres for kings of war but no-one else plays locally despite there being lots of mantic models about… may point some of the guys at this box and grab some ogres cant wait for the kings of war week 😀
Mantic is awesome, if I had to give a critique it would be that there does tend to be a lot of mold lines especially on the sprueless plastic… but as long as you aren’t as crazy as I was during the KoW kickstarter and now have over 1300 minis to clean/assemble/paint at any one time….
course I have yet to able to try out the game yet… spending to much time on the modeling side of the hobby currently.
Mantic’s enthusiasm in their public image is infectious and a welcome difference especially when its followed up with excellent customer service.
What is great about Mantic is they are gamers making/selling games for gamers .. pretty essential quality imo
The one line that really piqued my interest in that video? Orcs on horses! Why does nobody make orcs riding horses? I blame that Tolkien chap 😉
This is something i would look at as an akternative to Fantasy i think
There is nothing to stop you playing both systems, WHF and KoW.
I bought one recently and A extra box of 20 gouls as proxys for warhammer fantasy Because I like the mantic undead better than gws however after reading the rules I’m gonna play a game of kow plus I threw all my orcs and goblins in with my 4k warhammer green skin army at first I was aprèhensive because of the different style but having a different style dotted around really helps break up the manotany and to me represents the variations in a species. Plus the 2 bases of snotlings you get In the box that wasn’t mentioned is… Read more »
Although I’ve never bought anything from Mantic (which will soon change) I’ve always liked the price to content ratio. You get a lot for your money and in pretty good quality too, or in the case of the upcoming Deadzone – superb quality.
I can’t get over that Mantic undead are the best on the market. It’s amazing what they have done here, especially the new guys like the Flea Bag Riders. There is something strangely addictive about these guys and they paint up better than you’d think
mantic stuff id great value and the undead army is one of the best out there
I love there stuff but I do wish they’d include some instructions or more pictures to help with assembly. For example this is the first time Ive known that its 3 zombies on the sprue rather than 4 and the ghouls/zombies can be intermixed :s
Great set, although I got my mantic starters from the kickstarter
