So, what do you think of this week's selection?

Mordheim Ogre Mercenary by nakatan

We're kicking things off with a piece by the amazing nakatan on the forums. As a big fan of Mordheim (BoW Ben) it's awesome to see someone taking one of these classic miniatures and bringing it to life on the tabletop. Check out the Mordheim Orgre Mercenary.

nakatan truly is an awesome painter and the work that goes into these models is superb. The amount of character drawn out of these pieces is just mind-boggling. I've only just noticed as writing this that there is even intricate detail woven into the fabric of his undershirt!

One of the things that really impresses me about the way nakatan paints is how the final paint job actually looks like a piece of artwork from a book. The attention to detail when it comes to shading and such creates a superb piece which would be equally at home drawn as it is painted. Also, just take a closer look at the individual hairs that have been painted onto that Ogre's arm...

I think we can all agree that nakatan has painted quite the masterpiece here. It's nice to see him stepping away from the busts we've seen in the past and painting a regular miniature as well. Hopefully, this will give folks a bit of added inspiration to dive in and paint up some of their classic Warhammer miniatures from The Old World.

Late Roman Soldiers by ghostbear

Next up we're heading into the realm of Ancient History and looking at the work of ghostbear on these Late Roman Soldiers.

The Arthurian era is one that is full of mysticism and intrigue and it's great to see these desperate and valiant Roman warriors who would most likely have been fighting a losing battle against the Saxons pouring over the Channel.

Once again the painting is top notch here and shows off a great degree of skill when painting armour and matching it nicely against the rest of their clothing. Armour and chainmail, in particular, can sometimes look very one-dimensional, as hard as it might seem to fathom, and I think when you see someone doing a great job like this it's worth giving them a shout out.

Another love of mine is cloaks and it's great to see some superb work on them here with plenty of shading and a nice bit of highlighting to bring out the folds in the material. Cloaks are fantastic for models like these as they add a sense of motion to the model AND help break up all that metal and wood.

Also, amazing work on the bases too giving the models the feel of soldiers trekking through sodden woodlands looking for their enemies.

Infinity's Joan Of Arc by soapdodger

Last but not least we tip our hat to soapdoger once again as we check out his work away from terrain and instead at the painting of Joan Of Arc here from the Infinity range.

In painting this model, which looks fantastic, he was able to try and employ some of the techniques put forward by Angel Giraldez himself and was lucky enough to get some tips too via social media.

The work on the sword, in particular, is fantastic and I like the lambent glow to it, giving off the sense that her faith might indeed be driving her prowess in battle.

A fantastic project from soapdodger and hopefully we'll see lots more in this vein in the future. I have to also say kudos on those facial details too as painting faces, eyes, make-up and such is something I have yet to master and no doubt many others too. Well done!
