Watch Out For Firestorm, An Age Of Sigmar Campaign, Coming Soon
September 18, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has news of an upcoming campaign set which will be hitting the webstore for pre-order this weekend. Here a glimpse at Season Of War Firestorm.
We're going to have a larger exploration of this game coming later this week but the main focus behind this is that it gives you a campaign system for you to play out with your friends as you battle for control of the Realm Of Fire in the world of Age Of Sigmar and the Mortal Realms.
The campaign has been designed to be compatible with all manner of game types so you can use all of the tools at your disposal from the General's Handbook 2017 and more to play our your games.
New Army Sets
As well as the main set, the folks at Games Workshop have also put together some new Armies which will also be available representing the Great Cities from the Kingdom Of Order showing off the allies that the Stormcast Eternals can bring to bear alongside their mighty armies.
Unsurprisingly I quite like the look of this box which comes with a whole bunch of Duardin thrown into the mix. You can also get sets featuring the men of the Great Cities in Hammerhal...
...and those that support the darker forces of the Aelfs with Anvilgard.
Each of the sets comes with rules which will enable you to play games with them on the tabletop as allied forces for the Great Cities and not only in Firestorm, but beyond the campaign, if you want to use these as a focus for your games going forward.
Watch out for more on this new supplement for Age Of Sigmar at the end of the week.

Huh, never thought I’d see the old Empire stuff make it into a new AoS box..
Yeah, they are now the Freeguild who represent the regular folk still living in the Mortal Realms.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they get phased out over time though.
I don’t think they’ll get phased out. I’m reading Spear of shadows at the moment and one of the main characters is a human from the freeguild army at Excelsis. from my point of few some of the best AoS story’s at the moment involved human characters.
I agree with andz, would be silly to remove the most relatable thing in the game..
I meant more that the models might get phased out @andz & @while rather than the actual humans. The Empire/Freeguild stuff is nice of course but I would imagine they might have some ideas as to where they want to take the models going forward.
Ah, yeah that might be. More replacements/upgrades are possible! Would love to see more variations in the AOS release and see more of the older faction get new releases.
Yeah they are quite old those models now. I still have an old Battalion i need to build up.
If you’re looking for something to read @brennon I do recommend Spear of Shadows. Lots of Dwarf stuff to keep you happy 🙂
Im really lookig forward to the return if a map system, I much prefered it this way. Games now can have a meaning again.
Map campaigns are just the coolest, although would have preferred a return of Mighty Empires tiles.
This all looks very interesting. It’s kind of a bit of a yawn that Stormcast appear in every box however it’s also interesting how they’re pushing cross-faction forces with the new General’s handbook and I really like that. I’m looking forward to seeing more of these.
This looks very interesting. The stormcast have really grown on me. I think the inclusion of a small number of them in the city boxes is kinda like having emissaries of the stormcast present. Ambassadors I suppose.
It is interesting to see what they are doing with this set. the new rules for Hammerhal troops that they posted this morning add flavour with out being over the top. Link posted below in case you missed it.

There are ten different themed lists with added rules etc in the main book which is pretty sweet including Hammerhal – lots to look forward to.
I’m really looking forward to having a go at this!
Im looking forward to this (and shadespire for the models!).
3 cities of order, and looks good bringing back some of the older models that feel a bit left behind in the big shift to sigmar.
Im hoping (since there are 3 cities) to see 3 attacking forces, destruction, chaos and Death in the near future to go with this
