September 16, 2017 by brennon
Coming to Kickstarter on the 25th September 2017 at 20:00 BST Steamforged Games are going to be taking on Umbrella Corp and their creations in Resident Evil 2: The Board Game.
As you can see the game is going to be packed with all manner of creepy zombie creatures and the key characters from the story ready to find out what on earth is happening Racoon City. It looks like the Kickstarter will also come with The B-Files as well as an added expansion.
Will you be getting this?

Super excited for this. I have a ton of love for the IP ane while at first glance this adaptation might seem overly simple, the recent Lets Play videos for Dark Souls with Az have really boosted my confidence that Steamforged know what they are doing.
There are some intros and early playthroughs on their site, steamforged are imho one of the best rule design studios at present worldwide. Very tempted as I love the ip but timings not great for me and not doing a lot of boardgaming atm
Be nice to use for Mantics walking dead………
Loving what they’ve done with Dark Souls I’m intrigued by this, although not bought into the RE franchise in any way… but then I’d have said that about Dark Souls a year ago!
Talking of which, SteamForged still have some DS:BG KS wave 1 fulfilment issues to sort out yet alone start wave 2; they need to be seen to be on top of those before starting a new large project like this.
No kickstarter is ever perfect, but given the size of the kickstarter I’d say they’ve done pretty well.
The one thing I’d be more worried about is Capcom being Capcom …
Yup, it’s a percentages thing and some of the wave 1 fulfilment (some, not necessarily all) will potentially be down to customers giving incorrect information. What they can’t do is hold off wave 2 until 100% of wave 1 is complete. It’s not about getting 100% fulfilment when you’re talking the numbers that Darksouls got, because it’s impossible; it’s about getting a high fulfilment rate.
Is this semi-co-operative or 1 vs many?
Unsure. I would guess co-op.
All I know is, every time I open the box I would be putting on the voice from the game: “RESIDENT EVIL…2”
From what I have read, it is a hybrid of coop and solo in the sense that you sometimes have to split up and be on different parts of the map, handling things on your own.
Cant get a bit exited.. There is gazillion of zombi games out there and this one will have a hard time to bring anything new to the table but a name.
Huge Resident evil fan, but I am unsure about this game. Looking at the tiles and cards, they seem very bland and don’t invoke much excitment. I am hoping they are just place holder prototypes and the actual ones will look much nicer.
I would have liked to have had a miniatures game of RE, but I am not sure it would be popular enough to be worth the liscencing costs.
I feel your pain lobster,,, love have scene a skirmish game, as thanks to walking dead game, there is so much mdf to build the streets of racoon city. I just don`t think a boardgame will cut it for me… we wait for a demo…. Just have to make RE cards for mantics game
Thinking of am old housemate. She doesn’t play board games or miniatures games but loved Resident Evil. I may get her this as a gateway drug
looks to be a good game.
